Consumer Confidence Declined Sharply in July as Outlook Crashed
Breitbart ^ | 07/28/2020 | John Carney

U.S. consumer confidence fell sharply as expectations about economic conditions plummeted in July. The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index fell to 92.6 from 98.3 in June. Wall Street economists had forecast a milder decline to 95.7, according to Econoday. The Present Situation Index – based on consumers’ assessment of current business and labor market conditions – improved from 86.7 to 94.2, reflecting the reopening of the economy. But the Expectations Index – based on consumers’ short-term outlook for income, business, and labor market conditions – fell from 106.1 in June to 91.5 in July. “Consumer Confidence declined in July following a large gain in June,” said Lynn Franco, Senior Director of Economic Indicators at The Conference Board. “The Present Situation Index improved, but the Expectations Index retreated. Large declines were experienced in Michigan, Florida, Texas, and California, no doubt a result of the resurgence of COVID-19.”

When you have jagoff governors and mayors doing lock downs and then threatening more lock downs if you don’t behave, i am not shocked at this.

Just as the Marxists planned. All these mask Nazis and lockdown Karens are like the bleating sheep in Animal Farm.

Exactly. We were getting back to normal, businesses were reopening...so clearly it was time to rev up the panic machine and get the Karens bleating and running for cover.

Businesses in my area have said that they could have stood the first shutdown, but this defacto shut down (limitations on occupancy, masks - which has cut down enormously on in-person shopping or dining, because people hate them - etc.) is the nail in the coffin.

I read that a third of our businesses in Jacksonville may not reopen because of the latest round of Lenny Curry’s stupid orders. And now that he’s gotten rid of the RNC, I’m actually expecting even more severe orders. In which case, I’m outta here...another customer gone.

I could have more confidence in buying if the stores and outlets stock what I want to buy. It seems my stores are not restocking shelves of goods other than selected food items. Our food choices are being limited along with houswares. It IS NOT Mr. Trumps fault. It is the demoncrats controlling sickness causing it ALL.

Media hyped pandemic panic and held back on any good economic news, so of course consumer confidence slumped.

The media is patting themselves on the back - they did their job, their political job of shrinking consumer confidence.

Sounds like the Rat Party's campaign to destroy the economy might be working.

It would help if Trump would quit saying "the governors are doing a great job" every time he steps up to a microphone.

It is due to the continued lockdowns, not the virus.
