Remove battery, wrap in tin foil, wrap that in towel, place into metal ammo box.

Put it in your microwave or an old unused one, they are designed to keep radiation inside.

Try it, sure won't receive a pone call can't swear that there is not some other way they can track your phone, but even if they could it would not have left home.

Tinfoil - not 100% effective (Ghislaine Maxwell tried that). Better results IN the microwave oven, just don’t hit START or it will be permanently disabled...

Protip:

Don’t leave your phone at home. Turn it on and have a friend take it on a trip for you so the people who would be looking for you are looking elsewhere. The friend can even post locations to Facebook or etc. to make it more convincing.
