If you listen to the mayors of cities in chaos like Seattle and Portland, the Mostly Peaceful Protestors were singing kumbayah until federal officers arrived. Anyone paying attention knows this is a ridiculous narrative. Apparently, local residents have been paying attention because they are fleeing in large numbers.
If you recall, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan allowed a group of insurrectionists to take over a portion of downtown Seattle, which included unwilling participants who lived, worked, or owned businesses in the area. Huddled in their homes, they listened to chaos and gunfire every evening. During the day, a motley selection of partygoers descended on the six-block radius to engage in some kind of riot tourism.
The autonomous zone, also known as CHAZ/CHOP, was eventually broken up. But the Mostly Peaceful Protests didnt end. Just this weekend, a construction site was set ablaze along with a Starbucks adjacent to an apartment complex. Residents have taken note and are leaving. One way you can tell is that it costs a lot more to rent a U-Haul to leave a city than to travel to the same townbasic supply and demand.
U-Haul makes money by ensuring they are paid between destinations. When rentals leaving a particular location are up, but dropoffs in the same place are low, the price for leaving the destination rises. This is because they have to retrieve trucks without getting a rental fee.
There is a stunning differential in the route between Seattle, Wash., and Boise, Idaho. It costs almost eight times as much to leave Seattle as it does to leave Boise.
Business owners reported that downtown was beginning to suffer before the pandemic and the riots. The local Fox affiliate reported a rise in violent crime that was only made worse by the riots.

What’s the rate in the other direction?
most ppl leaving the Seattle cesspool are moving to the suburbs (Bellevue, Redmond, etc) - since working from home is common.
a lot are moving to the areas were real estate is still fairly cheap like Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish Counties.
there is no state income tax (for now) in WA.
I kind of question the U-Haul thing.
When you rent a U-Haul they never ask where you are going. You rent a U-Haul, they charge you a flat fee for the truck and then a fee per mile.
So if you drove it 593 miles from Seattle to a destination in Oregon or California it would cost the same as Boise.
You didn’t see the uhaul screen capture in reply no 2?
No one knows. It's not being done anymore.
LOL...so true!!
NO ONE, in their right mind, would purposely move there!
They will move to your neighborhood and start electing democrats. They are the same as Muslims: leave a hellhole and bring it with you wherever you move.
Why do Divorces
Cost so Much???
$103
What a surprise.
Inslee will try to get some sort of income tax going since his handling of the crisis shut down so many businesses and put thousands of work he’ll have to increase taxes on survivors. Fifteen hundred deaths is tragic, sure, but to shut down a state with a population of 7.5 million???
UHaul DOES want to know if the truck will be returned to the same place. It’s ALWAYS been more expensive for one-way rentals.
I think the deal is whether you are going to bring it back. One way probably a stiffer charge.
“There is a stunning differential in the route between Seattle, Wash., and Boise, Idaho.”
Good bye Boise.
It’ll be a lot worse than that if roving fingers Joe is sent to the White House.
“When you rent a U-Haul they never ask where you are going”
Yes they do. They have you specify where and when you will drop it off. And yes you do pay more if you are in a high demand area rather than a popular destination point.
U-Haul has always charged different rates on one-way rentals depending upon the supply and demand to and from different destinations.
