You reap what you sow voting for a POS such as Newsom. Deal with it.

Well, at least one of many catastrophes that are about to happen in that very pathetically governed state.

California needs to abolish property taxes—it is an emergency!

Urban property values and populations are declining in the marxist Democrat controlled areas.

There’s still plenty of farm labor and management work available in Bakersfield and the rest of the valley. Do it for a year, and get your bearings on what to do next. It will pay the rent at least.

So I’d guess that most of the people struggling to pay their rent are receiving unemployment PLUS $600 a week. Could it be that the new TV was more important than the rent?

For the record, I’ve had two occasions of unemployment. One I was relatively prepared for and we rode it out OK. The other was a completely opposite story.

I did nothing but scramble to make money while looking for a job.

When I interviewed for the job I eventually got, I had to apologize for my green hands. It was oil paint from an apartment building I was painting.

I understand unemployment because I’ve been there but I also don’t accept excuses because I’ve been there.

And what will California do for hurting landlords? Property tax waived until 90 days after Covid-19? We all understand the renters side but government refuses to see the landlords side. California may be trying to prevent homelessness but causes a massive case of homelessness in the future by killing off landlords.

While this bleeding-heart article focuses on the tenant side of the equation, landlords are also facing a crisis, as they have lost their income due to government malfeasance. But you can bet the bank that property tax abatement will NOT be part of any government solution.

A Two-Bedroom for $875 a month? Seriously? A Two-Bedroom in Massachusetts would be at least $1600 a month, and that’s in the poorer areas.

Anyone remember the “advice” Americans were given by the left during the real estate collapse?

Stop paying your mortgage.
Walk away from it.
Protest.
Blame Bush.

In the end, many Americans followed this advice and lost their homes and had their credit damaged.

I have a feeling that “acting now” wIll include onerous taxes on homeowners who sell their homes and other hidden financial penalties.

They will work to ensure none but the wealthy can afford to leave California.

The bottom has to fall out of many RE markets eventually, may as well get it over - typical renter who lives paycheck to paycheck isn’t going to suddenly be able to make 4-5-6 delayed rent payments all at once, once the moratorium is lifted.

Personally, I am looking to buy and move to a retirement house someplace on the water (maybe FLorida), and a few tens of thousands of former AirBNB houses coming on the market from desperate folks looking to unload their 2nd 3rd and 4th homes would be good for buyers like me - lets start that process soon.

So the landlord is supposed to provide free rent.

What about his bills. Does he get to not pay his bills, including property taxes.

Yea, didn’t think so.

Newsom can’t even pay his own property taxes, and they want him to protect people from eviction?

I don’t see hundreds of thousands of illegals moving south, so it can’t be all that bad.
