I was really enjoying the XFL before the pandemic hit.
It was the last refuge of the non-kneelers. The games
were fun to watch and the players seemed to be genuinely
grateful for the opportunity.

I know a guy who was an assistant coach on one of the teams. Young guy who was assistant at a Div. II college, and so was a big jump and opportunity/risk for him. Unfortunately when the league shut down, coaches and players were scattered. They will have to rebuild the teams and staffs.
I’ve switched from football to riots. More entertaining.

With the fall of the NFL and some patriotic leadership this could be genius timing.

I don’t know what 15 million buys you with the XFL, but it’s probably many millions less than what was initially invested and Dwayne Johnson probably has that in his couch cushions... not that he is using his own money. There is an unmet need for spectator sports right now, and an unmatched opportunity to upset the status quo.

I think people will discover that The Rock has become part of the Cancel Culture. In some ways, most athletes are followers and not leaders. The Rock is half black, and seems to think he must do or say certain things to keep is street cred. as somebody ‘down wit da struggle’.
I expect to find out he is a big supporter of all matters BLM. Maybe not, he may have matured and gotten more independent in his thinking.
Keep in mind his movies that have made him rich. They appeal to a somewhat low level of smash/bang/boom audiences.
He makes a business of appealing to those thought to be
‘the masses’.
Given some of Mr. Johnson's recent statements I kind of doubt it will come out that way but who knows. Maybe he'll make good business decisions. Regardless, they'll be doing that (or not) without me. I'm done with professional sports. NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, PGA... none of them have any appeal to me any more. None. Heck, I honestly didn't even know the XFL was still around - that's why I clicked on this story.
