The odd thing is, two of my children are black, and they buy into all of that most of the time (”work before play” is an ongoing project). They like the “secret” and results of White Privilege, and they hope it leads them to a better way of life. We have tried to let them know objectively (since my wife and I are white, so we still do objectivity) what things are and were like in Africa, and my children aren’t really interested in it. They are proud Americans (except my daughter, who is a proud TEXAN).

Two, just take a good long drive through non-urban American and note the kids, maybe age 10 and up already working hard to help out on the family farm, or with a mowing business, helping dad and mom in the painting sideline, picking up a few bucks washing cars, on and on.
