SPAIN'S former King Juan Carlos I has fled the country after becoming embroiled in a corruption scandal.

The ex-head of state, 82, made the announcement in a letter to his son Felipe, the current king, amid an investigation by the Spanish Supreme Court into his alleged dealings in Saudi Arabia.

It is an embarrassing exit for the monarch who reigned for almost 40 years until 2014, when he voluntarily handed over the reins to King Felipe.

Now if we could only get the Clintons and the Bidens to follow Juan Carlos‘s example.

Exiling yourself on the Dominican Republic is weird. I mean, it’s a lot better than Haiti on the other side of the island. But there are better places, I would think.

Is there an extradition treaty between DR and Spain?

I thought the same thing. Maybe the Dominican Republic doesn’t have an extradition treaty with Spain.

I don’t know, but he had actually been living out of the country before this. Years ago, one of the princesses was caught up in an influence buying scandal, and she was forced to retire from public life and was no longer officially part of the family or the succession. A lot of stuff started to come out about Juan Carlos at the time, which I think was one of the reasons he handed the crown over to Felipe.

Well, at least we know that Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Exile, yes. Forced... no. He made the decision himself and the usual suspects on the left are complaining.

Those predictions of him being the Antichrist are starting to look a bit tenuous.

It’s even weirder when you consider that the Dominican Republic has an extradition treaty with Spain, so that explanation is off the table.
