Kindergarten Cop Is Canceled, Likened to Birth of a Nation

It's come to this: Kindergarten Cop, a banal 1990 comedy-action movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a police detective who masquerades as a teacher, has been canceled and likened to the explicitly racist silent film Birth of a Nation.

Kindergarten Cop was slated to kick off Portland's Northwest Film Center's Cinema Unbound Drive-in Theater on August 6 until critics led by local author Lois Leveen said the PG-13 movie promoted a "school-to-prison pipeline," according to the Willamette Week.

In an email to Willamette Week, Leveen likened the Schwarzenegger vehicle to Birth of a Nation and Gone With the Wind:

It's true Kindergarten Cop is only a movie. So are Birth of a Nation and Gone With the Wind, but we recognize films like those are not 'good family fun.'…They are relics of how pop culture feeds racist assumptions. Because despite what the movie shows…in reality, schools don't transform cops. Cops transform schools, and in an extremely detrimental way.

The Northwest Film Center wouldn't tell the Willamette Week's Matthew Singer "how much influence Leveen's comments had on its decision, but the organization did respond to her tweets directly in announcing the cancellation." Kindergarten Cop has been replaced by a second showing of John Lewis: Good Trouble, a documentary about the recently deceased congressman and civil rights leader. Other films in the series include Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Xanadu, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, and The Shining.

KINDERGARTEN COP...I watched the film many times...Arnold ended up going undercover as the teacher...His female partner got sick...

The film was OK...

Attack on this film is just silly...There is nothing racist about the movie...It is just a comedy...

I chose to screen "Watching Paint Dry 7: The Final Chapter" instead...

I suspect you know absolutely too much about that film.

I suspect you are at least ten years younger than I am.

GMAFB!

These people (Lenin’s useful idiots) are batshit crazy. That the puppet masters have to stoop to using a bunch of crazies to implement their agenda is the surest sign that their agenda is incredibly dangerous.

It’s Leftist dogma that Obama took nationwide from roots in Broward County. The dogma led directly to the Parkland shootings. This is well documented in Why Meadow Died, written by the father of one of the victims. Nick Cruz neither got help nor ended up in jail, as he should have, because everyone in the school system was too worried about putting another kid in the “school to prison pipeline.”

Why Meadow Died: The People and Policies That Created The Parkland Shooter and Endanger America’s Students

A serious national discussion on this should have been the result of Parkland. Instead we got David Hogg and more lockstep anti-2A drivel.

To paraphrase Jason Whitlock,

This is no longer a debate about that’s just a tv show or movies or pro sports leagues. This is about the preservation of American freedom and ideals. The subversion of sports (and entertainment) culture is directly tied to the subversion of American culture.

Wasn’t it the pipeline-to-prison Obama-era policies that enabled the Parkland Florida shootings?

Why do these people want an undisciplined, uncontrollable, unaccountable populace?

I haven't seen the movie, but I thought that Arnold was there to protect one particular child from a drug dealer. Say what you will about him politically, but he has been cast as a protector of children before.

Was the real turning of america in 2016? Or at least planned for, and there was a fly in the ointment. It was so brazen that the shock of losing was as painful as losing to HIM. There was never supposed to be a BREXIT, or a few other items no matter what was delayed, China...our real rival was supposed to have walked right into our business, and the media would be complicitly watching without response. The craziness of what is going on in government is to cover for the things that cannot be covered anymore. Who is going to bail out the overspending (democratic) states? Who is going to bail out the overspending Europeans? Who is going to cover for the decades of the Chinese government paying off our our politicians? Is it through Soros?

It will be a weird time til November.

...which feeds the “school-to-prison” pipeline …

Shouldn't it be the BIRTH-to-prison” pipeline ??

In Nazi Germany, a chief role of culture was to disseminate the Nazi world view. One of the first tasks Nazi leaders undertook upon their ascension to power in early 1933 was a synchronization (Gleichschaltung) of all professional and social organizations with Nazi ideology and policy. The arts and cultural organizations were not exempt from this effort. Joseph Goebbels, the Minister for Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda, immediately strove to bring the artistic and cultural communities in line with Nazi goals. The government purged cultural organizations of Jews and others alleged to be politically or artistically suspect. Book burning in Berlin. Germany, May 10, 1933.On May 10, 1933, Nazi activists and members of the National Socialist German Students' Association (Nationalsozialistischer Deutscher Studentenbund, or NSDStB) organized nationwide book burning ceremonies in which they threw into the flames the works of such “un-German” writers as Bertolt Brecht, Thomas Mann, Erich Maria Remarque, and the texts of Jewish authors, including such famous German writers as Franz Werfel, Lion Feuchtwanger, and Heinrich Heine. Beginning in September 1933, a new Reich Culture Chamber (Reichskulturkammer)—an umbrella organization composed of the Reich Film, Music, Theater, Press, Literary, Fine Arts, and Radio Chambers—moved to supervise and regulate all facets of German culture

Good points you posted.
