It used to be that criticizing W on freerepublic would get you violently flamed, if not booted off. Especially if you criticized w’s Iraq War. I was only a lurker, but had friends who were scorched by the flames

W was treated like a GOD by a lot of freepers. And it was sacriligeous to call him out for blunders or stupidity. Remember the sarcastic Hannity line that Freepers spouted like robots? “Right, it’s Bush’s fault”. For these folks, NOTHING was Bush’s fault

Early on in the 2016 election cycle , quite a few Freepers were incensed that Trump had the audacity to remind people that 911 happened on Bush’s watch. Trump said it was ridiculous to claim “ Bush kept us safe” , while ignoring that Bush was president when 911 happened

That's the problem we conservatives have - we're fiercely loyal to the lesser of two evils, because that's all the GOP establishment will give us. We marvel at how blacks continue to vote Democrat despite being let down over and over again, but we need to take a long, hard look in the mirror - we stick with Republican worms who betray us at every turn like we're in an abusive relationship.

“while ignoring that Bush was president when 911 happened”

One of the first executive orders that Bush enacted when he took office was one that banned profiling airline passengers.

Senator Spencer Abraham (R-Arab Immigrants) had been bitching about Bill Clinton’s policy that allowed airport personnel to screen passengers if they were worried about them.

Bush agreed with Spencer Abraham since on most issues he put Americans and their safety second; liberals usually do. And so on the morning of 9-11 the American Airlines ticket agent who was very suspicious of Mohamed Otta could do nothing about it, thanks to George Bush.
