Former President Bush pays tribute to immigrants in new book

NEW YORK (AP) — A new book by former President George W. Bush will highlight an issue which now sets him apart from many of his fellow Republicans — immigration.

Crown announced Thursday that Bush’s “Out Of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants” will be published March 2. The book includes 43 portraits by the 43rd president, four-color paintings of immigrants he has come to know over the years, along with biographical essays he wrote about each of them.

Bush, who served as president from 2001-2009, has often praised the contributions of immigrants, a notable contrast to President Donald Trump’s rhetoric and policies. As president, Bush supported a bipartisan immigration reform bill that narrowly failed to pass in 2007, with opposition coming from both liberals and conservatives.

The father was pretty good - but the
‘born on third and think they hit a triple’ - not so much...

Same with ‘wives’ of important people. NO don’t want them either.

LEGAL immigration is just as harmful as illegal immigration. We need to halt ALL immigration for 4 decades at least.

Yes, agreed emphatically. The Silicon Valley has turned from a technologically advanced part of America - with libertarian views - to a international zone where only globalist anti-American views can be espoused without retaliation.

George H. W. Bush was NOT all that good. He started the ball rolling back toward the big govt suck that we’re living with these days. He did a lot to cancel out the Reagan revolution and return us to democrat power madness via (Clinton).

Trump has shown that he intends to return some sanity back to govt so the people can start to regain some American greatness. The Bush family are dead set against that because it goes against their globalist, neocon aims.

Yes, W’s 2nd term was bad news.
But the alternatives - Gore and Kerry - were national suicide.

“Out Of Many, One”

E Pluribus Unum meant the Union of the States

Had NOTHING to do with a mixed group of ethnicities

Only the Bolsheviks of the 1920s started perverting the sense of the phrase

I hope he lives to see his home state of Texas dominated by progressive Democrats the way California is now.

I don't hope that at all, ever.
But I'm guessing if it happened, (when it happens?) W would not be unhappy.

We have too many legal immigrants and too many illegal aliens, period.

The comparison was to Gore and/or Kerry.

It’s one thing to validly point out what a RINO Bush was as POTUS, but to even imply (whether accidentally or not) that voting for his opposition is in any way viable is simply not itself valid.

Yes, W’s 2nd term was bad news.

Uh, his first term included the invasion if Iraq, one of the “stupidest” most “ disastrous” foreign policy decisions in US history - to quote Donald J Trump

he was insanely better than gore or kerry.

He wasnt that much different than they would have been

And on Iraq, Gore might not have invaded, sparing us what Trump calls one of the most disastrous foreign policy blunders in US history

One what? One big mess.

How many languages does this “one” speak? Is this the same “one” that feels entitled to interpreters 24/7, or expects actual Americans to learn say, Spanish?

Of course W knows the difference between lawful immigrants who positively contribute, and illegal criminals and parasites.

Why the intentional blurring of the clear lines. Such nice people, all of these “immigrants.”

Looks like he has a directive to shame normal Americans who refuse to accept death-by-drunk-driving-illegals, drive-by gang initiations and assorted third world goings on in eateries, shopping malls, convenience stores, and stops for red lights.

Maybe he was on a flight manifest with his good friend Bill Clinton.

Maybe the 2000 election was a game of good pol - bad pol, everyone on the same uni-party team really, such that the nation would get used to banana republic elections.

And here we are.

He has disgraced his presidency.

It was a disgraceful presidency. I agree with Trump - Bush/Cheney’s invasion of Iraq was incredibly stupid and destructive

Okay, he was an 8yr disaster. But I was glad he was there, instead of Gore or Kerry, right after 9-11.
