Athletics has always been the great equalizer, the playing field where human beings could contend with their strength, mind, and spirits against each other. Going back to the ancient Olympics, athletic competitions bonded people together, and spirituality has always been an integral part of the process. The Olympics were competitions in front of and to earn the favor of the Greek gods, and great athletes have always known that the true competition is inward to excel past their supposed limitations into the heights. There are many parallels (even within our neuro-physiology) between athletic excellence and spiritual praise. As Ken Ravizza, the great sports psychologist who worked with so many MLB athletes once said, A great athlete is like a priest, he stands there and makes himself vulnerable before God.
What happened that athletes now kneel not in respect for God, but to protest a nation that has given them the opportunity to reap fortunes of money by playing sports?
Throughout my lifetime I watched great teams invoke prayer for their success like the armies of old. Like most children, I had my heroes, many of whom were athletes. My favorite was Sandy Koufax, who was called the left hand of God, was an amazing pitcher, and yet stayed true to his religious beliefs and would not pitch on Jewish holidays. It gave me hope that you could observe your religion and still excel in sports. As I got older, I saw team after team of Olympic and professional athletes thank God for their blessings and success.
Where did this Divine gratitude disappear to?
Sports has always been a place where limits could be pushed on the field, and personal beliefs were kept off. When Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, he was able to battle the bigots not by screaming,

Good luck with that
we'll ditch the college sports if they go all insane as well....
MLBLM
Done. It’s easy. It’s fun. I save moolah. I haven’t watched the programmers in 8 years. Now sports is programming us? To the owners it must be a WHTE PRIVILEGE thingy.

Sleep soundly in your beds tonight. Just sayin’.
Well I will wish you good luck as well. This is a tough battle we are in when we find our favorite sports teams collectively endorsing an organization like BLM that is founded and operates based Marxist principles and goals.
BLM is a Communist organization. Anyone who doubts that has not read anything written by the 3 Marxist trained founders of BLM.
Do a little research.
The other day I discovered that the NHL was on board...and I already knew that the NFL was on board.Don't know about tennis yet.
So now my Sundays will be free for other pursuits. And I didn't see a lot of the NHL anyway.
Way ahead of you but some of my conservative sports-addict friends don’t care at all and are still watching.
About the only college games I watch are Air Force or Army/Navy.
I like his opinion, but I have no use for someone who tells me what to do. I’ll decide that.
I'm not boycotting professional anti-American sports. I'm done with them for good. I don't plan to go back regardless of what they do.
Go fishing. Plant a garden. Restore an old truck. Play a game of Rook at the kitchen table with your grandkids. Those are things of value. Supporting billionaire ball players by wearing their name on my shirt has no value to me.
I’d like to know when the bean bag toss from the county fair was renamed “Cornhole” and put on television. Maybe it’s a Midwest thing.
Agreed.
If I see a player kneel at the National Anthem or any BLM cr@p they won’t get a nickel from me.
It’s nauseating.
“Boycott” implies taking active actions. I just forgot about them.
I am going to be the first person in my family...to win a fantasy football championship without watching a single game.
No nba, nfl, mlb and nascar for me. I never watched soccer.
Women’s sports look like ugly men playing for the most part so no thanks.
I will stick to women’s beach volleyball until the trannies invade it. After that, the closest thing will be “The Price is Right” when they run to hit the buzzer.
I am unable to initiate a boycott of professional sports teams at my house. For any reason.
I had pretty much lost all interest years ago, so there was no incentive to do what would have been meaningless anyway.
“Defund” is the word to use. We are “defunding” them. They want to attack and defund our police officers, two can play at that game.
This is a time of self-reflection for all the NFL is no exception. We stand with the black community because Black Lives Matter. pic.twitter.com/RtIdcEhj5w— NFL (@NFL) June 4, 2020
