I recall someone on this very site, from Michigan, told me and all of us once that Whitmer is not very popular in Michigan, and would not help the Democrat ticket carry Michigan.
Besides, she appears to not be a racial/ethnic minority, which we have been told for months were the leading candidates. Would there be frustration among the identity politics Democrats, if after getting hopes up, a white person is the VP nominee?????
If Joe Biden is smart, he'll try to appeal to working class Whites in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. That's the election right there.

I suspect that in many Democrat areas she probably is!
For all the other areas she could probably fool them and campaign in blackface. As a Democrat there would probably not be any real repercussions, at least from the media. (Cf. the governor of Virginia.)
