The stupid is strong in this one. Does this guy expect President Trump to praise Pickett's charge wishing a different outcome? Yeesh!

Hmm, I wonder what other speech was made at Gettysburg?

Um, that battle was a decisive loss for us and turned the tide of the war into the Union’s favor.

True story here...

A lady friend of mine (who I dated briefly) who grew up in Mississippi compared visiting Gettysburg to asking a Jew to visit Auschwitz. My reaction caused her to reel it back in.

Southerners are proud of the courage of the Rebels at Gettysburg, but it is a melancholy pride. No one goes to Gettysburg to celebrate Confederate ascendancy.

If this jerkoff "journalist" understood history, he would know that the American Civil War was a huge tragedy--and that national healing required people to let by-gones be by-gones.

Of course, I read the whole news story and NOBODY seems able to connect the dots. Shows how abysmally ignorant the whole American educational system now is.

FOURSCORE AND SEVEN YEARS AGO . . . .

Trump should ban CNN from the executive branch of the government. Then again, CNN is the gift that keeps giving.

Earlier in the year I calculated what CNN's primetime viewership was in PA, given CNNs national viewership and PA's percentage of the US population. It turned out to be around 26k. I think most of them were going through airports in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

I just love how leftists spin their wheels and get no where.

I learned a couple of weeks ago that the young men who fought there averaged between 16-18 years old.

I think of getting hit by grape shot there and pause. I have ancestors from both sides who were there.

A a Connecticut Yankee, I am proud of my heritage. I also respect the courage of those that fought on the Rebel side. A tragic war that cost us the best of that generation on both sides.

Jeremy Diamond already has his review of President Trump’s speech written: “The cheeks of every American must tingle with shame as he reads the silly, flat and dishwatery utterances.” and “We pass over the silly remarks of the president ... willing that the veil of oblivion shall be dropped over them and that they shall no more be repeated or thought of.”

I think he should give his speech EXACTLY where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address: The National Soldiers Cemetery.
And watch the left have seizures.

I still travel for work in aerospace. I specifically sit in areas where I do not have to watch/hear the airport CNN broadcasts.

I will never forget being there as a kid. My folks drove us through the whole battlefield at night. There was only the sound of the whippoorwill. It was eerie.

I remember looking out of the car window to the left across the Wheatfield.

My visit to Gettysburg brought about such strong sensations...Both my wife and I felt chills and almost could feel the tension in the air as we stood at the memorial of Picketts charge...We could almost smell the battle and feel the troops, hear the gun fire....It was the strangest feeling I have ever had...

I have had others tell me kinda the same feelings come over them at the Gettysburg battlefields...
