Not really. It was a decisive battle but the south might have lasted longer if they would have made the right moves.
If I were one of the southern supporters of that war that are on here I would lay the blame for that loss directly at RE Lees feet.
The bigger loss was at Vicksburg believe it or not. When they lost Vicksburg, they lost that war. Then came Atlanta and then the March to the Sea.
You have zero sense of humor and a low opinion of fellow Freepers if you don’t think everyone on this board know this. It’s called sarcasm you eff’n moron.
No, Lincoln was a Democrat. Axe any negro.
I wonder when folks will demand the removal of the bodies of JFK and RFK from Arlington National Cemetery because it was once owned by a slave owner?
Are you serious? That’s bat crazy. NIU must be one of dem dere institootzuns of higher learn’d.
Thank God the Confederacy failed. We’re The United States of America. One nation, one people. Lord only knows how this nation would look today if it had won the war.
We went to Gettysburg for only one day. Wish it was more. We did a horseback tour ride of the battlefield and I was shocked at how big it was and to think of how many men died out there.
I am always remembering it. That bright daylight and the vision in my mind of the sounds of battle.
I would’ve loved to have visited Scotland...I am Scots/Irish and Tsalagi (Cherokee)...
Does CNN know anything about Gettysburg? Pickett’s charge? Little Round top?
It was a decisive battle in the war, one that could have gone either way initially.
Thank you effn most perfect moron. Your most noble pefect one, it must be hard to be humble when you are perfect.
What political party did Abraham Lincoln identify with?
Abraham Lincoln
Political party Whig (before 1854) Republican (18541864) National Union (18641865)
See post #52. Besides, who am I going to believefacts or a university plaque?
Are you serious?
A a Connecticut Yankee, I am proud of my heritage. I also respect the courage of those that fought on the Rebel side. A tragic war that cost us the best of that generation on both sides.
Well, I’m Southern and very proud mine. I was touched by the respect General Grant showed General Lee and his men at the surrender. Both sides fought for what they believed in and I blame none....such a terrible war....
That Ben Rhodes was right, these people are completely ignorant, they literally know nothing.
And I’m quite sure this CNN schlemiel went to the finest schools, but they don’t teach sh*t in those schools neither no more.
This nation is teetering on the brink. We really can’t expect that Donald Trump can solve that single-handed.
Fungi just missed the joke. It happens. You’re being a little rough on him, dude.
I saw post #52...I believe it is wrong...At the time Lincoln was president, he was a member of the Republican Party...Lincoln was a liberal also...The ideology of the political parties has changed several times over the last 170 years, you know...
