Residents in major U.S. cities like New York and San Francisco have started to leave in droves due to various factors, including the lack of jobs during the coronavirus pandemic, technology and a potential increase in violent crime, according to a column posted on Monday.
Large cities were already hurting before the pandemic. Now, statistics from Indeed, an employment-related search engine, have shown that major U.S. metropolitan areas have seen a greater rise in employment and a larger percentage of job loss compared to smaller metros, according to a piece by Noah Smith, a columnist at Bloomberg.
Data from Indeed found that job postings in New York City over the past year have decreased by 36.4 percent, while San Francisco and Portland have seen their postings plunge by 38.5 and 33.5 percent, respectively.

I live in upstate New York (Putnam county) and homes are selling like hot cakes. People are bidding on homes having only seen them on-line for thousands over asking price. The exodus is real.
de blobio doesn’t want New York to rebound. He wants the city to decline, and the seat of capitalism to crumble. He’s a communist. He hates this country.
He has cut the legs of the police precisely with the intention of making the number of murders rise. A once-great city is now a disaster, thanks to de blobio.
because of PeloXi and Wilhelm-the-Communist,
BOTH cities are now dead for a decade (at least).
They are fecal covered, lawless, reminders
of why democrats are locusts.
Other factors: ‘Rat and RINO pols.
Hes a communist,........ hes an idiot who thinks he’s black because he has a black wife thats as far as intelligent he gets
And the IDIOTS who elected him.
NYC. Back to the 70s.
Who are now moving in droves to the formerly conservative Mid-Hudson Valley, North Carolina, Floridah, Texas, Tennessee, etc.
No. NYC is crashing not because of DeBlasio, it is crashing because of the people who voted for him not once - but twice.
People get the government - and the disaster - they deserve.
James Michael Curley, a four-time mayor of Boston, used wasteful redistribution to his poor Irish constituents and incendiary rhetoric to encourage richer citizens to emigrate from Boston, thereby shaping the electorate in his favor. As a consequence, Boston stagnated, but Curley kept winning elections. We present a model of using redistributive politics to shape the electorate, and show that this model yields a number of predictions opposite from the more standard frameworks of political competition, yet consistent with empirical evidence.
I sopd a DC suburban home the forst weekend. I had 2. ids with 3 showings and the house was a mess. ecause it was being painted. Unfortunately the people who are moving out of the citie bitch about the gunshots from farms all around here and complain about fireworks around the 4th. and of course newyears. My kids go to bed at 8, why are they shooting off fireworks??
Good indicator, that.
It was the same for Michigan in later 2000’s. 2010 census showed MI lost 55,000 residents since 2000.
I live on Staten Island. Prices are maintaining and even going a little higher.
But then upstate NYers were always a little bit of wusses like the other four boroughs :)
And folks like you apologize like little girls for living where you do.
Maybe if NYers had balls the way they used to, things wouldn’t be this bad.
AND SO MANY HERE WANT NEW YORK AND NYC TO GO UNDER!!!
They get orgasms over it since they don’t get any from anything else in life.
And you just gave them one with your post :)
Well bad news, hicks..I like where I am and I’m staying.
See, I don’t cry like b.tch about where I live and I don’t smack it day and night either.
It’s sickening to read.
Especially when so many hillbilly states take more from the fed govt than they give in taxes with their 1870s salaries.
The thing which makes Democrat cities with large welfare populations viable, is external aid from the state and federal. Cut that off, and there’s no money for the Democrat constituency.
DeBlasio was on a tour as a possible presidential candidate about 5 years ago, my boss was invited by Pelosi to represent business interest in a round table discussion, said Wilhelm was dumb as a rock.
Great link! Looks like I’ll be saving thousands!
