Father of Kamala Harris Says Her Ancestors Owned Slaves
Gateway Pundit ^ | July 10, 2019 | Cassandra Fairbanks

Dated but relevant.

The father of Kamala Harris detailed how their ancestors owned slaves, an inconvenient part of her history as she has spent much of her campaign focusing on race politics.

The Democrats have been up in arms about an NBC News report that detailed how Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s great-great-grandfathers owned slaves in Alabama in the 1800s.

Donald Harris, a Stanford University economics professor and father of 2020 Democrat candidate, wrote about how they are descendant of an Irishman who owned a slave plantation in Jamaica in a piece titled “Reflections of a Jamaican Father.”

“My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown, descendant of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown’s Town),” Mr. Harris wrote in his article for Jamaica Global.

The Free Beacon reports that “a research archive of Jamaican records indicate that at one point in 1817, Hamilton Brown owned scores of slaves. The majority were brought in from Africa, though he also owned many Creole slaves.”

Harris has been pushing for “some form of reparations for black people,” saying that “we have to be honest that people in this country do not start from the same place or have access to the same opportunities.” Apparently, she should be looking into the history of her own family.

McConnell has responded to the reports about his ancestors by pointing out that the family of former President Barack Obama also owned slaves.

“You know, I find myself once again in the same position as President Obama,” McConnell said. “We both oppose reparations, and we both are the descendants of slaveholders.”

He was given a slave by his father-in-law to help him on his homestead. He worked alongside him and then went down and filled out the paperwork to set him free.

He was not a Republican until after the war.

I know the story, but the point is that the history of slavery in the country is complex, now well suited to sentence fragments tailored to meed current day agenda. Familes in the South, like my own, were solid Democrat until I got back from Vietnam when they left the Humphrey/Mondale left wing Democrat Party and became Republicans. To claim anything otherwise is nonsense.

I have a copy of a letter written by a member of my family to their relations in Northern Ireland. They pointed out that Slavery needed to be ended (primarily for economic reasons), but because so much of the wealth of the South was invested in slaves, there was no way to achieve such a goal. That letter was written in 1783, when they could finally correspond with relative in Great Britain.

Kamala’s family history of slavery delayed the choice. Biden picked her first (remember the leaked announcement) and then the handlers said no because of the slavery deal. Then they analyzed the others to death before Biden said —

“you know what — I am going with my 1st choice. What can those racist Republican SOBs say about it anyway? Bunch of white supremacists! Screw them.”

“you know what — I am going with my 1st choice. “

BS, implies Biden is strong and decisive and made the call. He picked who he was told to pick. This follows the open letter letter the 100 BLM a-holes sent out demanding a black woman.

African’s owned and sold slaves and still do so why not go after the sellers of slaves for reparations?

It’s their African ancestry.

I would not exactly call it decisive as he took a few weeks longer than advertised.

But of course Biden made the call. He is the dem Presidential candidate. He has the final say ... certainly on who will be his VP candidate.

“She OWES reparations.”

This.

Biden killed the reparations movement with one name.

Can’t demand reparations be paid by those whose ancestors died to end slavery, paid to those whose ancestors owned (Harris’: 128!) slaves.
