Is it even possible to die from the Bubonic plague with our modern medicines?

It is possible if not treated, but bubonic plague is caused by a bacterium and is easily treated with antibiotics.

It is spread by fleas that live on rats. If you have a rat problem, get rid of the rats. Problem solved. Unfortunately, rats are hard to get rid of, consider Nazi Pelousi and San Francisco.

Our “modern medicines” are often nothing else but snakeoil. Try finding a real cure for diabetes or peripheral neuropathy,Big Pharma could probably invent a cure, but it is more profitable to sell snakeoil and claim its medical proficiency.
Just learn to live with bubonic plague like our ancestors did. Bury your dead is the advice.

Yes you can die from it but it responds well to a variety of antibiotics.

If not caught soon enough. If the guy infected didn’t go to the doc (and there are places in SF county that are pretty isolated).

It’s just part of living here.

The Septicemic version kills very quickly, usually within 24 hours. By the time you realize you have symptoms it may be too late.

The plague is not that uncommon in the Southwest.
