Who is going to be brave enough to start wearing “Free Derek Chauvin” t-shirts in public?

Jerk!

You are speaking of those who have convicted these officers I presume? Add Judge Porto that classification too. She already declared the officer guilty of 1st degree murder!

Sheesh. I called him a name because he said he was called names even though he has now been vindicated. It was a joke. Hence the smiley face. :)

*bump*

This is the first time I’ve seen the MPD training slide made public. I’ve heard rumblings about the knee-on-neck hold being an approved MPD restraint but this is the first confirmation I’ve seen. Seems like a real game changer. I’m surprised it didn’t come out sooner (or maybe I just missed it).

Floyd had almost 4 times the lethal dose of fentanyl in his system, plus a number of other drugs.

“They’ll get off in a jury verdict or on appeal, and then the riots will start again.”

They will be convicted by a specially select jury of George Floyd’s peers.

Why would it be better to put your knee on the neck instead of the head? Does anyone here know?

That's a good question. I'm not a LEO and know nothing about anatomy or martial arts or restraining violent bad guys, but (as long-time owner of a neck and skull) I think it would be a lot tougher to escape if your neck were being held down rather than your skull.

Same here, not LEO but if you didn’t hold the head down the person could smack his head repeatedly.

Better leverage, better motion control (you need to roll to get out from under, the base of the neck allows you to stop the roll) and it is harder for the subject to pull out from under. You also don’t have to apply pressure until the subject starts trying to escape, the fact that Floyd kept talking strongly suggests that significant pressure was not being applied.
This is going to result in a real mess.

Yeah, article mentions doped-up people in “excited delirium.” That guy in Baltimore was unrestrained and smacking his head around. George Floyd was violently resisting in the back seat of the patrol car. You need some tough restraint to hold guys down who are really hopped-up on dope.

I was reading the other day that people suspect the violet marxists in Portland are all doped up to both resist pain and give them extra strength to fight the cops.
