Gun violence is surging in Chicago and were all shattered by the loss of life, including young lives caught in the crossfire. It is harder than ever for all of us and especially police to do our jobs due to COVID-19. The community is frustrated, theyre demanding reform and, sadly, some people are looting.
In this environment, its natural to look for others to blame. After all, none of us police, prosecutors, judges or corrections officers are solely in control of who gets arrested, prosecuted, sentenced and incarcerated.
At the moment, the elected leadership at the city, county and state levels are all on record in seeking to counter the effects of over-incarceration, particularly of people of color. Many of us, in fact, are people of color who have known the sting of discrimination.
At the same time, there should be greater alignment around alternative forms of justice and treatment for nonviolent criminals. We owe it to the public to establish consistent goals and strategies and refrain from laying blame when we fall short. Reform is hard, especially when crime is rising, but its even harder when were not rowing in the same direction.
I pledge my complete and total commitment to the truth, the data and the facts. If, as it has been alleged, policies of my office are proven to contribute to looting or lawlessness, I will be the first to change them.
I am honored to serve the people of Cook County... alongside Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and police Superintendent David Brown, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Sheriff Tom Dart, Chief Judge Tim Evans, Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Lieutenant Gov. Julianna Stratton, Attorney General Kwame Raoul and U.S. Attorney John Lausch.

It is hard to allege systemic racism in the criminal justice system when almost all of the elected leaders overseeing the system are racial minorities.
You could start by keeping the thugs in jail.
+1
Or pop tarts chewed to look like a gun. Don’t point those at her either.
Kim,

As for the sting of racism that you personally felt..put some ice on it.
Firing a black prosecutor is the first step down the road to legal recovery
Somebody send her some copies of Thomas Sowell’s books. There are no “solutions” to these problems, there are only often painful trade-offs.
Anyone have any real time data on commercial and residential real estate prices in Chicago? With the leadership and policies of Lightfoot, Foxx and Pritzker who in their right mind would want to invest or move into Chicago?
Treat a Felony as a crime for which the punishment is summary execution. There, fixed it
Heheheh.
His biggest success story then, because what he is buying is deliberate ineptitude.

If you want to work together then call your President and request guidance and assistance and he’ll help, just like he’s been saying for weeks.
This is little consolation for the precious and innocent children gunned down or traumatized by living in a lawless gang war.
What about them Kim?
The unintended consequences of the chaos unleashed on the nation by the left will be hardest felt by the children in the very communities they claim to care about. It makes me sick to my stomach. It should make every American sick.
She means, including young black lives caught in the crossfire. She does not care about white lives at all.
Yes, Kim. You’re fired.................
"I ain't callin' that honky!"
