Arizona has largely been spared controversial changes at the U.S. Postal Service that critics worry will make it harder to deliver mail-in ballots for the presidential election, but election officials are sounding the alarm over the possible ramifications in a state where the overwhelming majority of people vote early.
And the postal service is warning states, including Arizona, that it may not be able to deliver ballots and early ballot requests for the November election within the narrow timelines in state law.
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy recently announced a host of changes at USPS, including the cutback of overtime hours for postal workers, prohibiting mail carriers from making extra trips to deliver mail, hiring freezes and the removal of mail sorting machines at some postal facilities. Those changes, along with the recent removal of USPS mailboxes in Montana and Oregon, has sparked concerns that the Trump administration is undermining voting by mail.
President Donald Trump fueled those concerns on Thursday when he acknowledged in an interview with Fox News that his rejection of a Democratic request for $25 million in emergency funding for USPS would hamper Democratic vote-by-mail efforts, saying, they need that money in order to have the Post Office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots, and that if the postal service doesnt get the funding, that means you cant have universal mail-in voting because theyre not equipped to have it.
Trump later said he would be willing to sign legislation that included that funding.
Joe Cuccinotto, the president of the American Postal Workers Unions Phoenix chapter, said Arizona has thus far been spared the cutback of overtime hours, the removal of sorting machines and other changes, which he said have only been implemented in certain areas.

Im hoping there is a safe way to deliver my ballot. Some kind of safe drop box.
Lefty propaganda meme machine and fake news is going crazy over this topic.
I work at the post office and haven’t noticed any reduction in Overtime. It’s usually pretty high during the Summer anyway. They should bring back Temps, which was a position they eliminated years ago. It helped during summer and christmas season but they weren’t full time employees and could only work 90 day stretches.
Were temps part of the Union?
Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes is in probably in charge of DNC election fraud in Arizona. Last time he created fake “emergency voting centers.”
No, they didn’t pay union dues. Its definitely why the Union wanted to get rid of them but it was a good job for college kids on summer break. It was when they cut the starting pay for full time carriers too. I would think it was a deal between union and management that ended up being largely stupid. They could eliminate 90% of the management at Post Office with no real problem (its mostly made up of people too lazy to carry mail and friends of other bosses who give them promotions)

Its interesting that this mainstream media newspaper accidentally wrote $25 MILLION instead of the $25 BILLION that the DemocRATS are actually demanding for the USPS. Accidentally on purpose, of course!
..all I know is that in AZ our vote has a greater chance of meaning something—in CA they didn’t...
We got the same thing.
And it was reported earlier today, the national USPS union is officially backing Biden.
No joke.
Hire Roadrunner and Wiley Coyote to deliver the ballots. They seemed to have run on every known road in the state and never got lost.

They plan on it being crazy through January 20th.
Simple Question,,,,,, How is it that people can find time to go too the post-office ,but can’t find their polling (voting)place ?
You can drop it off at your precinct on election day if you are worried.
Then you might as well vote in person. They m 77, last time I voted in person 2016 the line nes were horrible, no place to park, steep incline to get to the building and a two hour wait in line. We used to have great polling places but we have a dem in charge.
The whole purpose of my voting absentee was to avoid that.
I want to vote by cellphone text.
