Special prosecutor in Jussie Smollett investigation finds Kim Foxx's office mishandled case
Fox News ^ | August 17, 2020 | Stephanie Pangones

In a statement on the conclusions of his investigation, special prosecutor Dan Webb sharply criticized the handling of the Smollett case by Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and her assistant prosecutors, saying their handling was marked by disarray and misleading statements.

Foxx’s office surprised and angered many in Chicago by dropping charges that accused the former “Empire” actor of staging an alleged racist and homophobic attack against himself. Smollett is still adamant that the attack was real and wasn’t a publicity hoax.

Webb’s findings announced Monday came after charges were restored against Smollett by the same special prosecutor in February. Webb said at the time that dropping the charges against Smollett was unjustified, including because the evidence against Smollett seemed overwhelming and because he was not required to admit that the attack was a hoax.

The state’s attorney’s office’s “decision-makers” who worked the initial Smollett case “did not learn of any new evidence between when the [Cook County State's Attorney's Office] filed a 16-count indictment against Mr. Smollett on March 7, 2019, when the CCSAO believed it had a strong case against Mr. Smollett, and March 26, 2019, when the entire indictment was dismissed,” the prosecutors’ office found.

Foxx herself, “made false public statements representing that $10,000 was the most Mr. Smollett could have been ordered to pay in restitution under the law when there is no such cap under the provision of the disorderly conduct statute under which Mr. Smollett was charged.”

Not the sort of publicity that a candidate wants when seeking reelection.

So charge him now

Unfortunately that's a scenario likely to keep the appeals courts busy for the next thirteen years.

“Not the sort of publicity that a candidate wants when seeking reelection.”

Doesn’t matter.

So the conclusion is that Foxx did nothing criminal. Is there any penalty or will she get an extra gold star from the corrupt Chicago machine?

In a sane world, incompetence or malfeasance would be punished by the voting citizenry. In blue states/cities, sanity is not to be found.

This is why Soros is spending big money to install leftist D.A.s. The power to prosecute or not, persecute someone for any offense, or ignore blatant crimes - IS the law. Trying to influence a few hundred elected lawmakers is a lot of work. Trying to install one corrupt DA is a lot easier and more effective.

its also why the Attorney General of the USA has become the most powerful and important cabinet position of all.

Improbable, yes. Impossible, no.

Three Republicans have held the Cook County prosecutor’s office in the last fifty six years. The successful Republican candidates were in office for a total eighteen years. The last Republican nominee to be elected was Jack O’Malley who won a special election and a regular election for a total of six years. After he was defeated for reelection in 1998, he moved and won a seat on the appellate court.

Yeah, Juicy did a bad thing, but Foxx has released lots worse bad guys over the last few months.

If anarchy is what they want, give them anarchy. Too bad for the good people in Chicago, but that’s what you voted for.

"So charge him now"

He HAS been re-charged for the same criminal charges this February 2020 by the same Special Prosecutor. Ironically, the same month in 2019 when first charged.

I doubt it because no double jeopardy and the investigation proved Foxx had no precedent to drop the charges according to State law, even though she claimed so.
