Iowa is blocking me from prescribing it for my father. Based on an order from 5 months ago citing alleged drug shortages. Since then Trump has been gifted millions of doses from multiple sources, imported more from other sources and jump started domestic production in WV. The largest producer, India, indicated it could boost production a lot. Has anyone bothered to check whether there is still, or even ever was, a real shortage? Shouldn’t government agencies delegated to looking out for drug shortages stay abreast of their status and revise their rules timely? FDA Drug shortage pages state HCQ shortage resolved as of the end of June.

Worth a shot. Probably need a positive test result though
Giving a credit card number to a company in India doesn't seem prudent to me.
New Hampshire update: DHHS lifted its restrictions on HCQ prescriptions on 3-Sep. Details here: https://www.dhhs.nh.gov/dphs/cdcs/covid19/documents/dhhs-emergency-order-2.pdf
Unfortunately, HCQ is most effective when given early so limitations on use until after a Postitive COVID test have the same effect on some patients as an outright ban !

ER NURSE BLAMES GOVERNOR MURPHY BAN ON HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE FOR SPRING COVID-19 HOSPITAL DEATHS

A practicing intensive care nurse in New Jersey says people died across New Jersey because of Governor Phil MurphyâÂÂs meddling in medical care. Brown said COVID-19 is real, and it filled hospitals at a level she hadnâÂÂt seen in her 27 years on the job.

The governor decided that nobody was going to use hydroxychloroquine to treat the virus.

Brown said nurses effectively could not treat their patients once Governor Phil Murphy set his own rules on the medication.

âÂÂThatâÂÂs why hospital rates went and why people died in hospitals unnecessarily,â she said.

SHE SAID HER HOSPITAL INITIALLY TREATED PATIENTS EARLY ON DURING THE PANDEMIC WITH HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE AND NO PATIENTS WERE ON VENTILATORS.
TWO WEEKS LATER, SHE SAID GOVERNOR MURPHY ENDED THAT PRACTICE AND STARTED SENDING PEOPLE HOME UNTIL THEIR TEST CAME BACK POSITIVE. SHE SAID SOMETIMES PEOPLE WOULD RETURN A WEEK OR TWO LATER AND BY THEN, IT WAS TOO LATE FOR HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE.
BROWN SAID ONCE PEOPLE WENT ON VENTILATORS AND WERE DENIED HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE AND HOSPITALS HAD NO WAY TO GET THEM OFF. A LARGE NUMBER OF PATIENTS ON VENTILATORS ENDED UP DYING.
