I drove through the Syracuse University campus today.
All incoming dorms residents have to quarantine for 14 days in their rooms.
They are brought their meals, and are allowed on schedule to go outside to their designated place by their own designated path, to spend an hour outside each day, for 14 days.
I went past a gated athletic field and there were students sitting or standing in place, all socially distancing from each other, with other students, presumably, sitting in what looked like lifeguard chairs, keeping an eye on things to make sure nobody violated their orders.
It looked exactly like a prison, only worse, cause at least in a prison, the inmates could move around freely.
The first thing I thought was How are you do you like your gulag?
And they are paying big bucks to attend SU and be treated this way.
Its this sort of compliance, that they are even willing to pay to be treated like this, that makes me fear for our country.
I know a lot of Spring 2020 college grads (friends of my son who also just graduated).
And because of what you just described, NONE of them are going on to graduate school. Why go through all that? Some just decided not to go to grad school at all, some will apply for the following year.
My son hadn’t planned grad school anyway and considers himself lucky that he graduated “right in time” and doesn’t have to deal with any of this “online learning” and yes prison nonsense.
My heart breaks for the young adults in these situations. It truly sucks.
Horrible. I don't suppose that my alma mater is the only university imposing this madness.
The powers that be lock up young people trying to get an education, and paying $75-$80K for the privilege.
But the same powers are emptying prisons of violent criminals, all in the name to "keep us safe."
