SEATTLE — Just hours after President Donald Trump announced emergency authorization to treat COVID-19 patients with convalescent plasma, a move he called "a breakthrough," Seattle researchers voiced skepticism about its effectiveness to treat the deadly virus.
"This is just a gigantic exaggeration. I've been using this for my patients in ICUs across Seattle since March. It's pretty widely available. Do we think there is possibly a benefit? Yes we do. Do we think it's harmful? Probably not. Is it a miracle cure? Definitely not," said Dr. Vin Gupta of the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, immediately following the president's announcement. He also seems ignorant of the fact that the FDA emergency authorization has an impact on making this more available and informing more doctors and patients about it.

Granddaughter who works in a SoCal hospital and who grew up in Costa Rica and has family there in the medical field said that in CR they are infecting horses with Wuhan/CCP/Covid and then using convalescent horse plasma as treatment with good results. But she said the treatment could never be used here no matter how effective. It would take years of testing before it could be approved.
By “miracle cure” if he is expecting 100% effective rate then it is not but, it was never claimed to be. If memory serves me correct, Trump said in announcing it that it was 30-35% effective. That means 65-70% see no benefit. However, there is minimal risk so worth pursuing for those 30-35% that would see a benefit.
