I think nuclear power should be a major part of our energy future.
I know I’m in a minority thinking that way. Nuclear produces no greenhouse gases, but that doesn’t matter to the enviro extremists who make policy nowadays.
The fact is, there is no perfect zero emission, zero environmental impact form of energy anywhere. We can and should minimize environmental damage. But the enviro extremists take a concept of clean environment way too far.
You should see the blank stares I get when I explain the fallacy of solar/wind power to my family.
I said, you do understand that since it’s overcast and the wind is not blowing, the only reason we have electricity is because there is a turbine spinning somewhere right now? And that turbine is almost certainly powered by coal, gas, or nuclear energy?

Solar panels ,also known as photovoltaics , come with a 25 or 30 year warranty
Now mind you this is only for the crystalline silicon tight panels there’s been some other pretenders out there over the years and they’ve all gone by the wayside -amorphous silicon cadmium telluride and others
Photovoltaics are the only source of electricity on planet earth it doesn’t have any moving parts
I’ve been installing solar panels since 1990 that’s 30 years now
I have service systems that are over 25 years old the panels are still working fine the only thing that fails is inverters
Inverters are what make your solar panels connect to the utility and sell downhill
I challenge this author and any other idiot that tries to say anything bad about photovoltaics to talk only about photovoltaics alone and don’t try to lump them in with any other technology such as wind - they are night and day
You only have two choices as a homeowner or a business owner put solar panels on your roof or keep paying utility forever whatever they want to charge
Furthermore if they decide to turn off your power you’re on your own unless you install batteries
also, don’t forget the tremendous environmental impact from the physical & chemical macro/micro-processing aspects of solar batteries fabrication. These very aspects are numerous.

Solar panels also produce DC current which has to be converted to AC current to run modern devices. This is done with an inverter which produces 60 Hz. AC but it also produces higher frequencies or “Dirty electricity”. This produces electro magnet fields (EMFS) inside homes and buildings. The EMFS can cause cancer over time.
We have next-generation nuclear sources, safer with smaller toxic footprint. Sadly, they are stigmatized by a reputation.
My suggestion would be to store it all in Gropin Joe’s basement.
