Surely this kind of garbage and disrespect will bring out overwhelming votes for DC Statehood.

Are Democrats trying to lose the 2020 elections? Remember there’s not only the presidential election but numerous Congressional and other local elections.
Are they intentionally trying to create the impression that the Democratic party is full of politically correct blowhards?

I have a suggestion - that DC revert to Maryland except for the federal area. That way, they get their Senate representation (they will always be Democrats anyway) and with the exception of the north, eastern shore, far west and south of Maryland, they join a truly crappy state where they can do what they want.

They should allow DC residents to vote in neighboring states based on what area of DC they live in - i statehood period. Then they can shut up.

If they want to go back and add “context” to our founders then they have to add context to Kamala and add that she’s the descendant of a slave owner - and lets re-contextualize Obama to note that his ancestors sold their countrymen into slavery.

Proper response would be to:
- Repeal DC's home rule status.
- Carve out a National Historical Park to protect these monuments, Congressional buildings, the White House and other museums around the national mall.
- Even throw up a perimeter fence and charge admission to enter as we do for other national parks.
- Accelerate the process to relocate cabinet departments to flyover country.
- Retrocede the rest of the District to Maryland as was done with the Virginia portion.
- Repeal the 23rd Amendment.

If DC becomes a state, all the national monuments will eventually come down.

This is getting absurd. Whether the Founding Fathers owned slaves is beside the point of them developing the greatest society/nation in history. Unfortunately at the time, slavery was an accepted practice throughout the world, and still is in some 3rd world countries.
Many statues and icons should remain as a reminder of our past national injustice and how we have led the world in change. The BLM,Inc and Antifa types are acting like the Taliban by erasing history.
GUESS WHAT NATION ENDED SLAVERY FIRST? You have 3 guesses, but you'll only need one.

Pay close attention to the wording of the article for a good lesson of how the same press that exaggerates whatever the right does tones down whatever the left does.
here's the headline:
A task force commissioned by the Washington, D.C., government has recommended renaming, relocating or adding context to dozens of monuments
And here's the actual proposal (mentioned way don in the article:
remove, relocate, or contextualize landmarks such as the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial ...
So basically the headline writer just changed the word "remove" to "rename" to create their own, slightly less offensive proposal to replace the actual proposal, knowing that most people would never make their way through the whole article.

"Home Rule" in DC should be repealed and abolished.
The nation's capitol was never supposed to have a
mayor, a city council, etc. The federal government
through the US Congress was supposed to oversee the
District of Columbia and have total control of the entire
city. A city manager can be appointed (as was used to be)
to manage the affairs of the nation's capitol.
Those residents of the city who don't like that
situation are free to move somewhere else. No more
elected city government. The elected city governments
the the past and present have been and are total failures.

How come all of these monuments and statues were fine until May 25th of this election year? And are probably fine again in December this year after the immediate post-election riots have been put down, and residents of democrat-run cities go back to the regular order of killing each other?
To: yesthatjallen
The District of Columbia should be completely federaiized and de-populated.
