She tried to play herself off as someone coming clean to clear her conscience but the reality is that she got caught and knew she was about to be outed as a fake so she made an attempt at damage control. The people who caught her said there was no way she would have come clean on her own, a phony to the end.
She's not possessed. She's an opportunist. She took advantage of her racial ambiguity to capitalize on the fact that there are special privileges set aside for certain races.
