Businesses, landlords, etc. should be filing lawsuits in the cities that are being damaged. The elected officials pretty clearly aren't doing their jobs, nor are the police that are being told to stand down by the elected officials. Seems like major negligence at the least. It is either that, or abandon these cities altogether to let them fail.

I know that Americans love to wax poetic about the big cities like NYC, Chicago, and Los Angeles, but the reality is that the big city concept is archaic and should be abandoned. Especially after this "pandemic", the idea of having people packed like sardines into a small area is a really stupid idea.

abandon these cities altogether to let them fail.

That cannot be allowed to happen to any of our cities, and especially not Washington. The District of Columbia had from its founding until the civil rights and “Home Rule” push in the early 70s been administered by the Federal government, and should be still today. What this author describes is a repeat of the riots of 1968 that decimated a large part of nort-central DC (and that took two decades to recover)—to the 10th power, due to professional outside agitation and social media.

I also believe not only in term limits for -Congress, but also that former Presidents should not have a residence or office within 150 miles of DC for 12 years after serving.
