The cop’s response was perfect. The most effective way of dealing with these people is not taking them seriously. They have such a high-and-mighty opinion of themselves that calling them an “idiot” to their face might be even more damaging than a taser. Especially if there were fellow “idiot” snowflakes around to hear it.
