Inslee, Merkley criticize Trump for suggesting forest management to blame for wildfires

As wildfires ravage the American West Coast, with more than four million acres burned and at least 33 people dead, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., slammed President Donald Trump for his comments redirecting blame for the wildfires away from climate change.

"We know that climate change is making fires start easier, spread faster and intensify. And it is maddening right now that when we have this cosmic challenge to our communities, with the entire West Coast of the United States on fire, to have a president to deny that ... these are climate fires," Inslee told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on Sunday.

“Global warming has nothing to do with it. It’s a distraction for idiots.”

And I am sure the rats on ABC expressed no skepticism of this ridiculous premise.

A "cosmic challenge" - stop trying to pretend you're a member of the Fantastic Four and practice sensible forestry management, you deranged drama queen.

It’s called ARSON, resulting in over 30 deaths.

Uh, no. All of us who live in and next to the West Coast forests can see it for ourselves. The underbrush hasn’t been cleared, in California because Jerry Brown refused to allow it. Gotta be wild, right? Forest Primeval and all that?

So Mama Nature just be doin’ what she always do. Zap the brush, up it goes.

The left really does believe the public is stupid or they wouldn’t be pushing this nonesense....

They’re constantly trying to set the stage for revenue flows...Climate Changs is one of those....it excuses everything and everyone pays.

How much CO2 are these fires adding to the atmosphere because environmentalists restricted or eliminated forest management? The crap should hit those environmental posers from both directions for what they have done.

From the article:

“The Cascade snowpacks have gotten smaller. Our forests have gotten drier. Our ocean has gotten warmer and more acidic. And this has been happening steadily over the last several decades.”

Ok, looks like you chose to complain about global warming over the last several decades rather than, while you had the chance, manage your forests.

In fact, your environmentalists wanted to “preserve” the forests rather than trim them.

“the Trump administration doesn’t want to help us actually finance [forest management]”

What a laugh!

“ If they know that global warming is elevating the risk of catastrophic fire then they should be developing new strategies to manage the forest. It seems that the status quo is not working...”
************

I think all the fire fighters should be pulled out and let nature take its course burn clear all the rubbish, underbrush, etc. if people are dumb enough to build in the middle of it then they should Do it at their own risk and take the consequences.

We need forest management

Yep. The dry areas of summer in the West have always been subject to wildfires and always will be. It is what we do (or don’t do) in the other 3 seasons that is dictating how bad the fire season is.

It is not just me saying it...... watch this video with a US Forest Service researcher who has the most accurate assessment of what the major problem is and how we have gotten “forests management” wrong. The irony is that not only would his prescription help reduce the likelihood of big fires, it would improve diversity and the environment!

14 minutes and it is worth watching. This guy knows what he is talking about, but our politicians ignore him even as the taxpayers pay his salary!

One more thing: Since you didn’t do it, Mother Nature is now thinning the forests for you.

So you want us all to live in cities and nobody to live in the country? What about the thousands of head of cattle and crops that are wiped out in the middle of these fires?

If we grazed these lands they would be healthier and stronger, but environmentalist forbid it.

If we practiced proper forest management and selective harvesting it would be healthier, but the environmentalist forbid it.

If our wildland fire authorities and farmers who know the land were allowed to do prescribed burns it would be much healthier and these fires much less severe, but the environmentalist forbid it.

Everything comes with a risk. I live in the country and I am vulnerable to wildfire. I accepted that risk when I moved out here just as a person who lives in a city, a zone that is relatively safe from “wildfire”, but vulnerable to other ills, accepts the risks that come with urban life.

Is there any level of lying so bald-faced and absurd that even Democrat voters begin to lose faith?

I sometimes imagine I am a Democrat at home watching CNN, trying to stay loyal - but the lies these Democrat leaders tell - they are so obvious.

And when anyone pushes back even slightly, they evade and obfuscate - or double down with a lie even more shameless. It is so obvious they are lying about EVERYTHING.

Surely one out of ten Democrats voters would resent being constantly lied to.

In the old days graduate students in Oregon universities could look to summer employment clearing brush in the state’s forests. Then the State was invaded by Californians, and the Left took over and the forests have never been the same.
