Compiled from Inciweb. You can zoom in and see the actual fire boundaries, area of ignition, date and time of start, and likely cause. This was as a couple of days ago. Almost all started in remote areas, near a small country road or forest service road. Some started near a major highway.
I am about 4 miles from one of these, under a level 2 evacuation order. The Alameda Fire is not on inciweb and the County Sheriff announced it was arson. None were caused naturally ie lighnting, so that means all human caused and the likelihood of accident in there fires is zero.

The local Seattle talk show guy had somebody with the land management office talking. The official said that 80% of fires were caused by humans being careless. Campfires, fireworks, hot vehicles driving through dry grass, etc. It appears that this year’s statistics might be higher with intentional arson.
The Washington State report on land management that came out in the spring talked about large numbers of trees, diesease, trees not thinned out, debris left behind from cutting and general lack of funds to deal with managing the land properly. Nowhere in the report did it talk about “climate change” (which is pretty surprising actually!)

At this time of year off road vehicles, campfires etc are illegal as well as fireworks. Also the first year Trump was in office he ordered the BLM and USNFS to reduce fuel loads to prevent huge wildfires. Why was there not enough money? Only can be mismanagement/food dragging by the fed agencies. Unless you’re refering to state forests.
