“2020, What a year”.

That’s for sure. And it’s not over.

Pardon my ignorance; a serious question. How could Ginsburg get a bipartisan 96-3 Senate approval vote...but Trump’s anticipated nominee isn’t expected to garner even ONE Democrat vote in the Senate?

While I agree, I do realize there needs to be a fence. For those that would both sit upon it and some that wished to remain outside it’s bounds. In a way I believe a part of those ideals are what used to hold us together. The fact that my neighbor may not live as I do but I would help him support his life during times of need. That being said. The pendulum is swinging. Hold on baby!

Since the 1880s, no Senate has confirmed an opposite-party president’s Supreme Court nominee in a presidential election year.

We’ve never had to beat back Communism before, either!

Haven't you noticed which side John Roberts has been voting with lately?

Roberts votes have been self serving. His vote on this will also be self serving. But, Roberts does not want to be a Chief Justice of a 15 member Supreme Court which will happen if the Democrats win the White House and the Senate. He will vote with Trump on this one.

I’m hoping Trump has enough support in Maine so Collins will carry anyway.

Collins is toast anyway. She had nothing to lose by screwing Trump and us on this.

It is okay if six don’t vote, as long as they don’t vote against.

I don’t think there is anyone on FR that would have been a Ruth Bader Ginsberg fan.
Having said that, death is difficult for ANY Family, and my prayers go out to her family.
It was interesting that even without the knowledge of her death tonight, President Trump mentioned in the rally about Ted Cruz and his fine credentials.
I feel after the news has settled , next week, President Trump will nominate Ted Cruz for the seat on the Supreme Court.
Just my thoughts.

I agree. It comes down to where he wants to live. If here, among friends, he will cross the line. If in DC, and be forever viewed as a weakling, then he will remain rat.

Someone needs to have a serious talk with that boy.

McConnell made it clear. There will be a vote.

Yeah, but he didn't say when.

We can lose three. If it is a 50 50:tie, pence casts the tie breaker! The only other wobbly one is graham. However, he is in a tough race and needs every republican vote he can get. It would be suicide for him to not vote for the nominee. Mitch can do This!

Graham won’t vote no. His base would desert him and he would lose his election. In addition to the three GOP Senate girls (Collins, Murkowski and Romney) the more likely defections are Never Trumpers who are retiring or planning on not running again: Alexander, Burr, etc.
