With the election chicanery that democrats are planning, we need this to be done now.

Process questions by either side is a loser issue imo. You have the leverage, you use it.

The public needs to see what kind of nominee Pres. Trump puts forward and how each of the Senators running for re-election vote in order for the them to make an informed choice at the polls.

The people have spoken. We have a Republican President and Senate.

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm betting that some of the RINOs in close races, such as Collins, lose their nerve should a vote make it to the floor.

You’d think a no vote would hurt them more than it would help them. After all, should they win it will be with way more R vites than D ones.

They held up the conformation until after the election. I am at a loss?

Republicans took over control of the US Senate in the 2014 mid-term election.

Obama nominated Garland early in the election year of 2016 - but had a Senate controlled by the opposing party.

History shows that when that combination occurs then the nomination does not go anywhere.

However, when the President and Senate are of the SAME party, then history shows that nomination and confirmation of a SC justice during an election year is very commonplace.

Did Obama appoint Garland?

Yes, in early 2016

The Republican Senate had the power to prevent the appointment of Garland.

The Republican Senate has the power to appoint a replacement now.

They have this power by Constitutional grant, and in reality.

You really don’t have to go any further than that.

Ironically, RGB is the only democrat that can draw a reasonable size crowed. It only took death to make it happen.

Yet, Joe Biden has to pretend he has a crowd.

His party is praying he dies or resigns before inauguration day.

His party and it’s voters do not respect him and they certainly regret needing him to get this close to regaining the Whitehouse.

By Contrast,
We are preying for Trump’s continued good Health, Energy and a like-minded successor after 4 MORE YEARS.....

RIP RUTH...

Tell me what’s the difference between now and when Obama had the appointment of Garland? They held up the conformation until after the election. I am at a loss?

Lame duck unaccountable President ineligible for re-election, with opposition in control of the Senate. I’m not sure if under those circumstances the Senate had put up such a candidate since Presidents had term limits.

I think President Trump should say, “I hear the Democrats are talking about going to 11 justices. If they want to go to 11 justices, I can send in three nominees instead of one.”

The difference? President of one party and Senate controlled by the other party. In that instance, the Senate has traditionally refused to confirm in an election year.

When the President is of the same party that controls the Senate, then the Senate has in all but one case, confirmed a Supreme Court nominee in an election year.

If Collins is responsible for torpedoing the Supreme Court nominee then she will have guaranteed herself a loss in the election, most of her republican base will instantly abandon her.

She stands to lose a lot more republican votes by voting against the nominee than the dem/independent votes she will gain. Maine's republicans will not put up with her defection on this, they'll run her out of the Senate on a rail.

The Republican senate didn’t have the votes To elect a Democrat president’s choice. So why bother with all the hoopla.

Under Obama it was his last term and the president and senate majority were two different parties. Under trump its only a one term and president and senate are the same party.

Then - the Senate was in Repub hands and the WH was Dem - now it’s also in Repub hands and it agrees with who is in the WH.
Dems would do exactly the same thing and pontificate about why it’s right...elections have consequences...
