FWIW- I work during the summer at Vermilion Valley Resort, located on the west end of Thomas Alvin Edison Lake, high up in the Sierra National Forest. We are 5 miles east of the northeast finger of the Creek Fire. Now evacuated and holed up in a hotel in Clovis, CA. Spent 12 days in a row (24/7) in the acrid smoke shutting down and evacuating the resort and about 150 people, that were airlifted to Yosemite Fresno International Airport, by the CA Army NG, (Sacramento) and the US Navy, (Lemoore) using a CH 47 Chinook and a UH 60 Pave-Hawk, respectively. VVR staff housed, fed and transported the evacuees to the LZ set up at the emergency spillway at the west end of the dam.
Good stuff Maynard.
