“Biden is going to develop a slight fever in order to stay home and send in Kamala for the debate.“

I had the same thought.

If they do try to substitute her, I don’t think the President should agree to it - that’s letting Joe off the hook too easy. But he needs to find a way to decline without giving the impression that he’s afraid to debate her - which is how the Left would spin it.

Maybe the best thing would be for the Trump campaign to say something like “The American people deserve to see the two Presidential candidates debate. So, if the Democrats would like to officially restructure their ticket with Ms. Harris at the top of the ticket, then of course, the President will be happy to debate her.”

It is too late to officially change the ticket, so this is a way of refusing without actually saying no.

“...if the Democrats would like to officially restructure their ticket with Ms. Harris at the top of the ticket...”

That’s good, or how about, “Ms. Harris is scheduled to debate Vice President Pence, and it wouldn’t be fair to ask her to debate me as well.”

he can always fall back on the “come on, man” schtick.

When slo joe gets confused, which is often, he uses this same trick: "Look...I'm going on too long, but...you know, the thing."

I like it!

Or, just say nothing and send Mike Pence to debate her.

Yes, the media scrums help and so did the so-called town hall on ABC News the other night. Debates, however, are different and Trump needs to prepare and be ready. He has got a great message in my mind and can do really good as long as he has been properly prepped.

“Debates, however, are different and Trump needs to prepare and be ready.”

I guess you’re forgetting that Trump slaughtered 13 other 2016 Republican primary candidates during 12 debates in which Trump had to not only destroy the candidates but the “moderators” as well ... President Trump is probably the best prepared Presidential debater during at least the last 100 years ...

I guess this eagle/dove thing is the old alpha/beta male thing, right? Trump definitely is alpha. Joe is ... hell, I don’t know WHAT Joe is. Omega maybe?

Ummm ... No. Trump did not win many of those debates and he held his own but did not win against Clinton in any of those presidential debates. He won with his message and the other candidates, including Clinton, were pretty bad.

As I said. Trump has a winning message. I have confidence Trump can remain calm and give a great debate performance but only if he and his team prepare properly. Underestimating Biden and not properly preparing gets anyone into trouble. Just ask George W. Bush and Obama in their first debates when they were looking for a second term.
