Gee, you bring up a disease process that is not associated with this — how nice of you to stoke fear.
The trial was stopped for the investigation of the second neurological disease. The first one was undiagnosed MS — that is pretty easy to spot you find plaques on the brain so that is definitive. The second case was stopped for a period of 4 - 5 days, the work up was complete and found to be not vaccine related, and trials resumed. This demonstrates that AZ is taking all due diligence and fleshing out this vaccine like every other one.
It also is worthy to note that this vaccine is standard technology and not mRNA for the uberFearpers out there
You know what the real problem is?
How many of the people and institutions we thought we could trust, both governmental and private sector have proven otherwise. Case in point: the CDC.
So I’m gonna wait on getting a WuFlu vaccination. I’m also seriously considering holding off on getting my annual flu shot for the first time in decades.
That said, it would not be uncommon for a very small number of people to have reactions to a Covid-19 vaccine - but the risk-benefit ratio would be expected to hugely favor benefit. With regards the MS patient, that's a horrible diagnosis, and it is highly unlikely to have anything to do with the vaccine. However, there is speculation that a general immune response can trigger an MS flair, so it's not entirely out of the question for the vaccine to have been a contributing factor.
I am happy AZ is being careful. They are being responsible, as they should be (unlike Putin injecting people with adenovirus vectors).
