Some good news it would appear Lindsey Graham polled the senate Republicans and has the votes. I would assume they were presented with a list of candidates.

They should be prepared for violence by the opposition. No mowing your own lawn senator.

I wouldn’t mind seeing ACB for the next 40 years. She is not difficult to look at.

She’s a devout Catholic. She also belongs to a charismatic prayer group that’s ecumenical. They’re not like the Duggars’ religion, FFS.

She’s certainly a better choice than Lagoa.

Have you read about the group Barrett is part of? I am not comfortable with it. They have to confide in an older person (handmaiden) who vets their decisions, their acts, their finances on a daily basis. The husband is in charge in the home except he is subject to the oversight of a male confident.
I question whether someone who is used to being subject to someone else’s approval of every decision is an appropriate choice for a SC justice. Barrett has said she would recuse herself if the case relates to religious matters such as abortion or death penalty or she would “follow the law”
Recusal would negate many of the pluses that people are expecting based on her religion.
Robert Barnes says her decisions have been uniformly in support of authority, supportive of authority setting aside individual liberty for the State’s interests such as the recent COVID restrictions or forced vaccination.
I also think a mother of 7 young children including a Downs child is either going to shortchange her family or the court duties.

Are you Kamala Harris or Dianne Feinstein?

It boils down to you don’t like that she clerked for Scalia.

No it does not. That is ridiculous. Someone can clerk for a justice and not wind up being like them in the ways that count.

She’s already doing the job of a Federal Appeals Court judge.

And unless you belong to this charismatic Catholic group how do you know what they believe and how they operate? Is your “expertise” from watching “The Handmaids Tale” on tv?

Review of Barrett’s decisions is concerning. Conservatives have been burnt so often. We don’t need another Roberts.

Mike Slocumb@mike_slocumb
I’ve said since the first day she was mentioned two years ago that #Barrett isn’t the conservative judge many conservatives seem to think she is. Read her opinions and congressional testimony. There are so many better options.

Robert Barnes@Barnes_Law
Notice much of the media & left is quiet about #Barrett. That is because they *want* her to be the pick due to the mountain of material they have on her since she got put onto the bench. Pro-lockdown decisions, justifying biased judges, excusing police misconduct, and on it goes.

“Barrett has said she would recuse herself if the case

penalty or she would “follow the law”

Recusals have become strategic for the Corruptocrats.
If true, this makes me most uncomfortable.

I got enough recusal from Sessions to last me decades.

Do we have any choices for the position that would perform
the WHOLE Supreme Court Justice Job, and not sit out the
important parts?
(Turning those issues over to a divided court! Not good!)

Look we are supposed to be on the same side. I know about her sect because I read articles and did a web search when I became concerned. I was very uncomfortable with what I found. Everyone is entitled to their way of life but the strictures of the life she has chosen do not make me comfortable having her make final decisions for all Americans.

I have never read/seen the Handmaiden’s Tale. I don’t watch TV. I do know that there are pictures of women in hoods standing silently every time the book/show is mentioned but that’s the extent of my knowledge.

You can have a different opinion than I do but you would be better served by using facts to refute me than ridicule & derision to try and silence me. If I have a reason for posting as I did it is to awaken other Freepers to issues so that they can examine the evidence and her record as Barnes and others have, to make up their own minds. This is not a beauty contest or a sports event where we bet on favorites. This is a vital decision for our Nation. POTUS will make the decision but airing of different takes on the candidates, with facts to back up those takes, is helpful.

These two articles are a sort of counterpoint, one argues that Barrett has said she would not recuse herself, the other suggests a more open ended position on recusal. The second article discusses Barrett’s legal decisions & opinions and ends with some insight into her family responsibilities.
