I don’t think so. I don’t think Catholic is the answer or the problem for that matter. We have several catholic justices. I am concerned because this charismatic sect has a central tenet about letting others control your life decisions.

A SC Justice needs to have cultivated independent thought and to have a consistent internal framework for evaluating the Constitution & precedent. They cannot accept someone else’s evaluation or derivative reasoning.

This sect is based on a communal conscience where one’s actions, decisions, child raising practices, choice of mate are influenced and shaped from outside not decided on by the person. This is a small sect 1700-2000 people in 22 cities across the US, Canada & the Caribbean. People who have left by choice or who have been asked to leave because of homosexual activity or not agreeing to be controlled by leaders talk about coercion and being forced into relationships.

This community has strengths such as service to the poor & disadvantaged but their point of view is so different that I am not sure Barrett would be representing the mainstream American public and the Constitution. Certainly there are many Americans whose choices would not be protected in the sect and might be brushed aside by Barrett.

I thought they were disputing Kavanaughs intention for the term and they were saying it meant intercourse, which would be spelled “boffed”

I posted the link to the part of the hearing where Democrat Senator Waterhouse was questioning him about the slang terms in his yearbook. Waterhouse asked him about different terms. One was the word “boof.” Waterhouse wasn’t sure how it was pronounced, first saying “boof” then “boff.” Kavanaugh set him right that the word was “boof,” and told him that it was a word he and his 16 year old friends used to describe “farting,” “passing gas.” The Democrats wanted it to mean sexual intercourse, but the word was clearly “boof,” not “boff” as they had hoped.

ok got it. I just thought they were trying to redefine what a word meant. I never heard the testimony of that BS scandal back then I just thought the intent was to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual rape. If he actually wrote “boof” in the yearbook then I guess it would mean farting, just never heard the term before. Sort of sounds like what women will say they do instead of farting, what is that called poof or something? lol

You are confusing your candidates. Barrett is not Latina, Lagoas is.

avoid any more catholics

You sound like Kamala Harris and Dianne Feinstein, that's what they said.

Basically, you want less Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, and more John Paul Stevens and David Souter.

This sounds too much like a religious test. She’s a judge. Obviously they are not controlling her. Like I said, this was the same thing Protestants said about Kennedy.

In the scenario being pushed by the Democrats about this group, she would be home cooking barefoot in the kitchen waiting on her man to come home and tell her what to do, not being considered for a Supreme Court seat

I respect your opinion.
In the end President Trump will weigh & consider & make his decision. I also respect Robert Barnes and the work he has done in evaluating Barrett’s judgements & opinions. His words may be of interest to you as may be the article in the Catholic Monitor.

Now ACB is our nominee and I’m on board to defend her against all attacks.
