Timing in politics is always a dance.
My guess is that time was needed to get the Rs in the Senate “squared away”. McConnell needs to count votes and might still be counting votes. The GOP committed to hearing the nominee before the election but did they commit to voting for her? IDK.
Any anti Catholic rhetoric ought to be turned around and aimed at Pelosi.
