I know a lot of FReepers like to dump on these two women, but I’m gonna come to their defense here.

Let’s not forget, it was Susan Collins who shot down Christine Blasey Ford’s credibility and allowed Brett Kavanaugh to be confirmed.

Also, it was Lisa Murkowski who stopped the Senate Impeachment cold when it looked like the Democrats wanted endless hearings. And neither one voted for Impeachment, Romney was the only Republican to do that.

So, I’m saying they’re wiser than we give them credit for ... they’re both in electorally-tough areas and have to walk a fine line ... let’s see how they all vote

I think that no mater what they believe personally about supream court postings they realize a 4-4 split on anything from the election that ends up in the court has the potential of destroying the nation.

I’d also point out that Murkowski, in this case, does not appear to have backtracked - but rather answered a different questions which the media ran with.

Would she prefer the nomination come to a vote before the election: No

If a nominee comes up for a confirmation vote will she vote for them: Yes.
