The Great Conservative Migration And What It Means For The Future
Alt-Narket ^ | 9-23-2020 | Brandon Smith

The signs really began to become visible at the end of January, 2020; there was an exodus of people brewing, and it was galvanizing fears on both sides of the political spectrum. The pandemic situation is cited by the mainstream media as the primary cause, but in reality the migration had started at least 3 years earlier. Americans were leaving certain states and cities behind by the tens of thousands, and these places were predominantly leftist in their policies and population. California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, etc.; all of these progressive states were bleeding residents since 2017, the pandemic just accelerated the situation.

There are a number of reasons given for the dramatic shift in population, but two specific reasons stand above the rest: Economy and political ideals. The pandemic itself is only a minor motivator. Consider the fact that residents of California left the state in droves for Texas over the summer DESPITE the problem of Covid infection spikes in major metropolitan areas of the Lone Star State. People didn't care, they just wanted to get the hell out of California as quickly as possible.

Again, a main reason given by former Californians was politics. They are conservatives or moderates that felt isolated or trapped in a far-left cesspool and they realized their future life prospects depended on them transplanting to a more free and less bureaucratic place.

The fear among conservatives was that the pandemic would smoke leftists out of their hives and that they would spread to more conservative areas and “take over”. This does not seem to be the case. In fact, it appears that most leftists are stubbornly refusing to acknowledge that their states are dying and are actively defending state policies on the web.

Hammering the stake of the trogolo-con lie about people bringing “Liberal Cancer” wherever they move. If they unslacked their jaws for a minute and researched, they would see Red States are getting redder, not bluer but hey, it’s so much easier to lie.

No. How do we know that? Because of the evidence. Orygone, Washington, Kolorado, Austin, Tulsa and Boise used to be conservative enclaves.

Then came the kommiefornians.

Unfortunately what qualifies as a conservative often moves to a state like Texas and immediately starts voting for leftist policies, thus turning it into the dump they left. We saw it in Florida, New Yorkers fleeing high taxes and ridiculous regulations moved to Florida only to vote for democrats and making a solid R state a must win battleground in the presidential election.

Please, please, PLEASE leave your California and New York voting mindsets in those states when you leave. True conservatives are welcome but please don't turn Texas into California and Florida into New York. I live in Florida for a reason, I don't want it turned into a dump like New York.

Well now. Not only do we have someone who is wise beyond that of most freepers, but that wisdom inspires snark. Interesting.

Since my research skills pale in contrast to yours, and the anecdotal evidence I get makes me a “liar”, please, enlighten me?

“please don’t turn Texas into California and Florida into New York.”

Ditto for TN. We in TN are hicks, mostly toothless, can’t read, usually barefoot, brew hooch in our garages, have terrible healthcare. Don’t come here; you wouldn’t like it.

This is my view. Secession is the only peaceful result of the political, cultural and philosophical differences we have in this country. Otherwise, it’s two warring tribes fighting for total control over the central government - the Left because centralized power and totalitarianism is what they believe in, the Right due to self defense. There will reach a point when one side is losing and refuses to accept their defeat. Democrats never accepted 2016 and are threatening to refuse an electoral loss this time even more so.

The democrats will win....there will be no red states left in ten years...

All you have to do is look at the past....Red states or purple states that are now blue or turning blue...Trump cannot change that....the only hope is that moderate democrats wake up...

Colorado turned from a conservative state to blue....democrats were at one time fairly conservative...

Californians have overrun the state...left in 2000

The California definition of “conservative” is “not quite as much of a Communist at Kamala Harris”.

Not encouraging.

I live in a small town in the Midwest. The migration is real. Several from Chicago, California and New York have moved here in the past two months.
They left home to find a place to raise their family.

I hope the writer is right about this. But every time I hear the phrase “that’s not the way we did it back where I came from” my radar goes off that I may have encountered a leftist locust come to infest my area.

As the economy continues to decline and stagflation strikes, likely very hard in 2021 regardless of who is in the White House (you can thank the Federal Reserve for that), price increases will eventually prevent Americans from being able to relocate anyway.

Price increases of what? Moving trucks? Rent or real estate in the places they want to move to? What exactly does this look like?

That hasn’t been the case in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Texas, New Mexico etc. California and northeast migration has not made them redder. It has turned them or put them in danger.
