That is not QUITE right.
Richardson’s father was an American Citizen banker working in Mexico. He sent his wife to the US so Bill would have the benefit of being America born. His mother absolutely hates the USA, and would have had him born there to be a Mexican Citizen if the father hadn’t insisted.
Bill Richardson himself prefers Mexico too, (heard it from his own mouth at a private gathering back in 1983). I was surprised that he didn’t move back there permanently after his political career essentially ended. I guess he stayed because in the USA crooked dealings don’t usually end with bullets and machetes like it does in Mexico.
There’s no proof he was born in the USA besides his word. He was born south of the Border and his momma claims he was born here. He’s Mexican.
