I live less than 30 miles from his Nevada Tesla facility. My neighbor works there. She loves the job.

I applaud Musk for being aware of his own body & his health & not succumbing to national panic.

“and allegedly fire employees who didn’t feel safe enough to return to work”

makes me feel better that Musk is a good ol’ fashioned industrialist ...

“I’m looking forward to driverless, less strain and should be safer overall.”

What a crock. Let me say it again, if it was not clear in my previous post: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DRIVERLESS CAR. Either the person in the car controls it, or software (directed and monitored by a remote engineer) will control it.

Anyone who would rather have a Google engineer control their car needs to have their head examined.

And did you see the Cybertruck vs F150 pull? Electrics have just as much torque, if not more, than gas. The S3 plaid Tesla will be faster than any ICE under $1m for $120k or so.

Electric engines generally are going to have a lot more torque than conventional engines. One issue is they tend to have more problems with achieving higher rpms, limiting their use. (Not as much in regular cars, but still.) Also, which truck would win an endurance race? Once they start running out of fuel, the F150 would take a minute to refuel, the CyberTruck is what, eight hours? down to six maybe? It's also going to affect cargo capacity. On their own, a truck weighs the majority of the weight you can put in it, leaving a ton or less for actual cargo weight. Just the batteries on the Tesla weigh more than that, meaning it needs a beefed up frame, suspension, and so on. Bringing the CyberTruck price down close to a regular truck means either a major compromise on materials, or a major loss on the sale instead of profit. Unless, of course, all the major manufacturers have such large margins that Tesla can actual hit those price points and still make money.
