Presidential contender Joe Biden and his Democratic allies are seeking to turn President Donald Trumps nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court into a referendum on the future of American health care.
Trump nominated the Indiana-based federal appeals court judge to the high court on Saturday night, praising her credentials and noting that future cases would decide the survival of our Second Amendment, our religious liberty, our public safety.
Left unsaid at Barretts nomination was that the court will hear a case challenging the legality of the Affordable Care Act, former President Barack Obamas signature health-care overhaul, as soon as Nov. 10.
Republican-led states backed by the Trump administration have asked the court to strike down the law, which would likely leave tens of millions of Americans without coverage.

The Democrats have Supreme Court nominations confused with elections.
Good. They got whacked in 2016 over it. Let them get whacked again in 2020.
End ALL government interference in health care! Repeal Obamacare, Medicare and Medicaid. End the FDA and CDC. Stop all federal medical research grants.
This is what they like to do. We will see what happens in the hearings to come. But, they will probably make this vote a proxy vote on the Affordable Care Act.
Just as they turned the Kavanaugh circus vote into a proxy vote on whether you believe survivors of sexual assault, they will want this to be a proxy vote on Obamacare.
They will say that any Senator voting to confirm Judge Barrett, wants to take away “healthcare” from tens of millions of Americans. Just as they talked of how you were supposed to vote against Judge Kavanaugh to prove that you take sexual assault seriously.
And Corey Booker will grandstand. I want to see how Kamala grandstands, as anything she says will reflect on the Biden/Harris campaign.
Brilliant strategy by the Democrats! The public loves paying two or three times as much for their health insurance so that they can pay for other people’s abortions and sex change operations. I am sure that no one would want to go back to a much more affordable system where they could choose their own doctor... etc... Brilliant! /s
O Care is dead. Even John Roberts can’t keep it going.
Had it been legitimately passed, and written properly instead of thrown together haphazardly with numerous fudges, the Court would not be an issue. It’s problem is that it was never legitimate.
Many of the things people are worried about losing, were things that were present before the ACA and which it destroyed. ...Like the Pre-existing Condition pools nearly all states had. The ACA didn’t fix things, as much as it took a wrecking ball to things so that the whole system would fail.
A creative scheme but flawed. Obamacare is not popular across most of America.
Trump’s team should remind the public that Obamacare was set up with impossible deductibles that rendered Obamacare worthless to many middle class citizens of the U.S. The only real beneficiaries were the very poor, but most of them had access to Medicaid already; it was the lower and middle class folks that were horribly impacted by Obamacare.
So, the mandate that Obama had imposed on folks penalizing them along with humongous deductibles rendering their health insurance plans worthless, was a travesty. It was Trump that removed the mandates. He must remind folks, hopefully in tonight’s debate, that the only reason Obamacare does not seem as onerous as it really is, is because Trump removed the mandates.
Trump should state I could have left the mandates stand and all you folks who have forgotten what a horror story Obamacare really was, would to this day be suffering under worthless insurance policies that Obamacare created, and that were totally unaffordable.
Not even counting the fact that in many locations throughout the U.S., only one carrier is available to choose from, which is no choice at all. It’s a monopoly. People often have short-term memories, and Trump fixing the major defect (the mandates) in Obamacare has contributed to folks thinking Obamacare isn’t as bad as it initially was, because they are not having to pay the mandate.
Trump has got to remind folks that he is the reason Obamacare is not quite as bad as it was, although the plan still stinks to high heaven and hopefully will be overturned by the SCOTUS.
Yep. Totally in line with what I have seen in the local Miami media.
Yesterday, almost the ENTIRE reporting on the SCOTUS nomination was a REPETITION of Democrat “Obamacare is doomed” talking points.
RBG’s death claimed Obamacare with it. The 4th Circuit case striking down the Affordable Care Act is on the docket for the USSC this upcoming term. At 8 members, a 4-4 tie (assuming the compromised John Roberts will twist himself into another legal pretzel to defend Obamacare) vote will be an affirmation of the 4th Circuit holding.
Once ACB is seated, the deal is done. 5-4 or 6-3 (depending on John Roberts realizing that he cannot save Obamacare and takes advantage of a lay-up opportunity to burnish his “swing vote” reputation).
Sounds about right to me.
