You could be right.
The next debate is in a town hall format moderated by the C-SPAN host. That will be a more intimate setting where President Trump can be more relatable to the people asking questions.
He may have traded being aggressive last night for making it up at the next debate.

Trump was aggressive because he was using Biden's own tactics against him. Remember the 2012 VP debates? Biden bullied and berated Ryan right from the start...laughed at him, interrupted him constantly and mocked him. Ryan was reduced to sitting there quietly sucking on a water bottle.
Biden thought he could do the same thing to Trump. Trump beat him to the punch and out-Bidened Biden.
The debates are not about debating anything. There is nothing to debate. Trump knows that.
