So Matt Bevin was really THAT bad, Kentucky?
Alas, Beshear isn’t up for re-election until 2023. I hope by then, Kentucky voters will still remember how he mishandled the COVID-19 crisis, especially when he threatened those going to church.
No. Bevin was great. He was fixing the teachers retirement fund that Bashears father stole the money out of. To do that he did across the board budget cuts, as he should have. Those cuts became the Bevin cuts the teachers union is sonstupid they couldnt understand he had to cut. Bevin put one billion dollars in the retirement accounts. Plus set yearly contribution rates so these dumb teachers would have retirement money. Yet somehow, the teachers screamed at Bevin for the cuts. Its like attacking the firefighters while the arsonists get elected. It was so frustrating.
Look at the election, our republicans swept the down ballot, and Beshear won by not alot.
Kentuckys Senate and House have huge majorities, we run out almost all democrats. Only Louisville can you find democrats. Our Louisville is Little Detroit.
Bevin is a good guy that got screwed.
But trust me, we wont make that mistake again. Trump won Ky by 30 in 2016. Hell win by more this year. We dont entertain ballot harvesting in Ky.
Ky also reports results quickly, we have a brand new Secy of State who will certify the win early. My hope is, and my expectation is all of the South will follow suit. Beginning the Trump landslide
Actually, Bevin was quite good. He wasn't reelected because he ticked of the teachers by trying to fix our very, very badly broken pension system.
How broken? I saw an article the other day that California is in debt many billions of dollars, which puts it in 5th place as far as the most debt. The only states deeper in depth are: Illinois, Massachusetts, Louisiana?, and Kentucky. So, Kentucky is deeper in debt than California but has only a fraction of the economic output, so the outlook is much more dire. Bevin tried to get started with a fix, but the teachers would have no part of it.
Look at the voting: Trump won Kentucky by about 62-38. I saw an article about the Kentucky voting where Bevin lost. That year there were 30,000? fewer votes cast than in the previous gubernatorial race. Bevin lost by 4,000 votes. So, it looks like thousands wouldn't actually vote for Bashear instead of Bevin, they just didn't vote at all which allowed Bashear to win.
