Absentee Ballots: Efforts to Speed Up Ballot Counting in Three States Fail
PJ Media ^ | 10/05/2020 | Rick Moran

In three battleground states, there have been efforts to begin counting absentee ballots before the end of Election Day. Almost all states do not start counting absentee ballots until the polls close in their states. But with the expected crush of mail-in ballots, the odds of counting all of them in a single night are close to zero.

That means that Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania will be many days—perhaps weeks—counting the ballots.

There have been efforts to speed up the process by allowing officials to begin counting before Election Day. In Michigan, the Republican legislature wrestled with the problem and decided to give election officials a 10-hour head start. Most observers say that isn’t nearly enough time.

In Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, similar efforts met with no success. So election officials are facing the daunting task of having to open absentee ballot envelopes, verify the signatures—a process that will be challenged in court—and verify the bar codes. In many states, there is another safeguard for the ballot—a secrecy envelope that also must be opened before the ballot can officially be tallied.

This is going to happen a million or two million times in some states starting on Election Day.

How many people are opening the ballots? How many are verifying the information? How many people are actually tabulating the ballots? And it’s crazy to be concerned about fraud?

USA Today:

In Wisconsin, municipal clerks have long sought the ability to count at least some ballots before Election Day, but Republicans who control the legislature have been unable to reach an agreement on the issue. Legislative leaders have no plans to come back into session before Election Day, even though Wisconsin’s top Republican, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, has argued the ballot-counting law should be changed.

better to count them before they know how many votes they need to “find”.

LEFT OUT: Major Federal Judge order in NC. Remands over to all other States— under our Judiciary— that they be equal treatment under the law in Federal (Presidential) election.

HERE are the linked posts. A major event:

VBM is a potential disaster in the making.

And for what purpose? So people don't have to get off their fannies on Election Day and stand in line to vote?

Remember that these same people have apparently had no problem hitting the supermarkets and liquor stores since this whole thing began back in March.

Unless they have a damn good reason to request an absentee ballot, they need to get off their butts and vote in person.

There's a very good chance that if you vote by mail, your vote will not be counted on Election Day and stands a decent chance of being disqualified for some technicality or other.

I heard a radio interview with a USPS employee. He did a good job explaining why vote by mail will be a disaster.

Over the years, the USPS has ramped down the number of employees due to higher use of email. They don’t handle the volume of mail that they used to even 20 years ago. Now the dimrats want to pile on an enormous amount of mail on them?

The USPS cannot handle that in a timely manner. Which is probably the intention to create chaos in the election.

By now I think I’ve received at least 5 ballots in the mail.

Just like everything else that these stupid libs touch, they’ve got this screwed up six ways to Sunday.
How about one person/one vote utilizing voter ID, and a death penalty sentence for anyone committing fraud?

“...So people don’t have to get off their fannies on Election Day and stand in line to vote?...”

Some years back I remember going to vote and getting parked first. A young lady who was severely crippled, was walking on the sidewalk and trying to get to the building.

To make it worse, we had a lot of snow overnight and the sidewalk was not cleared off. She was really struggling. I respect THAT. The snapshot of her struggling along in the snow and trying to keep from falling, is burned in my brain for ever.

Ever since then, anyone who thinks they need to vote by mail just because they CAN, really frys my butt!.

Question: How do the verify the signature? I mean, are they really doing anything besides seeing if there is actually a name there (or even a squiggly line)?

They are not talking about actually counting ballots, but processing ballots, ie. opening them and putting them through the counting machines. These machines do not spit out results until you press the FINAL REPORT button.

Maine has always allowed processing to begin before election day, especially in our larger cities and towns. I can’t imagine larger polling jurisdictions not doing it that way.
