Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign is calling for changes to the final debate after President Trump pulled out of next week’s debate following the Commission on Presidential Debate’s announcement of a late change to the format.
The Oct. 15 debate — which was supposed to be the second out of three — was designed as a town hall-style event between Trump and Biden.
Trump announced Thursday he won’t be participating after the Commission said it would take place virtually, rather than in-person, because the president contracted the coronavirus.
The Biden campaign is now calling on the commission to change the debate format for the Oct. 22 event to a town hall.
“We hope the Debate Commission will move the Biden-Trump Town Hall to October 22nd, so that the President is not able to evade accountability,” Biden's deputy campaign manager, Kate Beddingfield, said. “The voters should have a chance to ask questions of both candidates, directly. Every Presidential candidate since 1992 has participated in such an event, and it would be a shame if Donald Trump was the first to refuse.”
The campaigns generally negotiate with the commission over the format and rules of the debates.

They already have the fake town hall people all set to get on a plane from the old location to the new location.
How about changing the debate format to each candidate asking questions of the other with a time limit for the answer and for rebuttal? No DNC framed speeches in the form of a question for each person.

Trump needs to debate, in person, with a more balanced moderator for a change—and no more “climate change” questions! It’s so down on the list of concerns for both Dems and GOP. Nobody cares—only rich liberals in CA care.
I liked Pence’s dismissive answer: yes, the climate is changing. Now let’s do some forest management.
I noticed no one cared last night at the debate about Disney being trapped in CA or the CA forest fires. That’s what CA gets for choosing to be such a tyrannical one party state. Both parties are now free to ignore CA’s problems.
But why can’t Americans voting Biden see that what they will get is what CA got: lockdowns, mismanaged forests, fires, bums everywhere, high priced housing, no reliable electricity and blackouts? That is what CA and the Dem party has to offer.
I think this isn’t mentioned more by the GOP because no one cares about CA but it really is a failed state.
The Biden campaign has gone from thinking they didn’t need any more debates to pushing hard to get them done. They either (a) are falling behind and need the exposure, (b) have some real big “Gotchas’ lined up in the next debates, or (c) believe Trump’s campaign is floundering and the recent COVID-19 diagnosis has made Trump look vulnerable.
By the 22d, Trump should hold multiple townhalls

How about the two of them get together in a neutral setting and simply ask and answer each other’s questions for 2-3 hours?

Yes, go on each with “no prepared questions, no questions off limits”. And each host should share the same exact invite to Biden.
Biden knows his campaign and his media lackeys can pack the hall with his supporters.

The town hall style is BS, we need a real DEBATE. Not softballs, what are you going to do for me? type questions.
