Well the advantage is Trump’s right now. Biden is the one who needs to convince moderates to vote for him.

I’m trying to figure out what use any debates are at this point, since many places are already voting, either with early in-person voting or mailing ballots.

To hell with these staged debates... These debates only reinforce established perceptions of the candidates... If you are into fear and loathing vote for Biden, and if you prefer fearless leadership... Vote for Trump.
Besides... Trump isn’t running against Biden anyway. He’s running against the press and for the past four years he’s been winning... I see no reason why he won’t win again on election day.

NO Moderator, just a timekeeper for a true back and forth debate.

Remember in '92 when the ponytail guy stood up at the Clinton-Bush town hall and asked 'We are symbolically they children of the President so how will you as President provide for all of our needs? Please just promise that both of you will stop raising Clinton's ... I mean either of your character issues and make a pledge now to provide for all of our needs forever." Bush grumbled and the press attacked him an uncaring SOB who refused to put the american people ahead of his urge to run a dirty campaign unlike Bill Clinton who really felt our pain and somehow it worked and swayed public opinion to Clinton.
The dems will never let truly undecided people into a town hall again after that.

There never should have been an announcement of a virtual town Hall if the debate is going to be held after trump is no longer contagious. This was just a hit job to make everyone focus on the fact that he had the virus even though he will be perfectly immune and safe.

Im trying to figure out what use any debates are at this point, since many places are already voting, either with early in-person voting or mailing ballots. To discourage Election Day voting?

Here is an idea. Freeze both candidates websites today. Now have a debate on policy issues that are on both your websites.

Trump may bring up Biden’s website on the Rush show tomorrow. He will have a microphone and a free hand.
