My daughter made crap working for a major company in Seattle. She barely survived payday to payday. Living in a shoebox and going without meals occasionally got her by. Took a pay cut moved to Durham NC. Has a really nice apartment, money for food and can even afford an occasionally luxury. Yes. Her salary was higher in Seattle, but while she earns less in NC, her quality of living is higher.
Have talked with others who are looking to move overseas.
What city/country is looking good to you?
Glad to know your daughter is happy in Durham.
I live in the same general area (the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill triangle). While I was working (am retired now) in the Cary area (suburb city of Raleigh, NC) made decent salary and was not stressed.
Now am very content. Only the possibility of the leftist/Marxist cheating their way to a win in November makes me concerned about where I live.
Actually boots, coats and gloves add up, along with cost for heat (about $300 a month for an apt here in MA), plus the time putting them on and off, versus being able to live in T-shirts all day outside. However, the Lord provides, and here I abide, to serve the Lord in and outside, till He arrive (or I died) or He sends me Southside.
But if one can WFH without commuting to the job, or you retire, then https://www.kiplinger.com/real-estate/places-to-live/601488/25-cheapest-us-cities-to-live-in. But our prayer should be like, “Lord, led me to the place you would have me seek and serve you in, that is best spiritually and otherwise to than end, to your glory.”
Oh, let the man enjoy his delusion. I personally dislike heat, humidity, bugs, and reptiles, but a friend of mine is a native Cajun born and raised in Baton Rouge who they do not faze. We can wear good boots, flannel over a couple cheap t-shirts, and jeans to go out and enjoy Fall colors with a brisk breeze of insect free air and a hint of wood smoke. To each their own.
Just keep in mind that a work environment which allows you to work from your home, also enables someone to do your job from India, where the cost of living is even lower.
